And the screen looks fantastic. Some people here had me nervous and if you’ve been on the thread you’d think it was the end of the world and you’d have to instant RMA your device due to dead pixels.

Just wanted to add a positive note. My LE arrives pristine with no issues whatsoever.

I’m glad that there are people getting a LE with no dead pixels. Atleast it means not every single one has the issue.

Unfortunately, I have atleast 1 dead pixel I found in the white and green screen test and I just got my LE today :(

It’s Reddit and the vocal minority. This shit happens with every release of any product. Yes, there will be defective units. It happens. That’s not the norm though. If you believe Reddit, every person with a LE will be caught in an endless cycle of RMA and never have one that will work while valve drinks the blood of their first born child.

green isn’t dead, it’s lit so it might just be stuck try a stuck pixel fixer

No, they mean that the green subpixel is dead, not that the pixel is stuck green. People on here seem to be mixing that up a lot.

Haven’t noticed any in my limited use. Honestly even if there’s 1 dead pixel, I think people are making way too big of a deal out of it much like the glossy vs etched screen.

How’s the d-pad? People with LE order have also been reporting mushiness with them.

The right d pad button on my LE was mushy and wouldn’t register without extra pressure. Already sent it back for a replacement. Had a flawless screen with no dead pixels too

Edit: forgot to mention it was a BOE screen

Great! Also, what’s your opinion on the LE shell being thinner? I heard it was one of the rumors going around, but is it more of a baseless claim?

Man I don’t even know how someone would get around to measuring the thinness of the case. Even if it was:

          1. Wouldn’t it improve thermals and be lighter? Are those both great?

          2. It’s really a non issue.

LE here. Dpad is so much nicer than my original 512GB LCD. Has a nice click to it and spring back. Also no dead or stuck pixels.

I wonder if there is a screen connector difference between the Samsung and the nBOE (not Best On Earth) panels. I have multiple sub pixels that are stuck. I love the LE so much that I don’t want to play the nBOE lottery with an RMA. For me, I think I am going to wait for iFixit to get some panels in and hope they have Samsung. I know it is a bit ridiculous to have to spend another $90 bucks and some time to fix, but the RMA process is more of a PITA.

Just RMA it, or return it and buy the regular model (I would make mention in the return request that there are dead subpixels or stuck subpixels).

You can fix stuck ones, but not dead ones.

Is there any way to initiate an RMA without the whole put in a ticket and wait for 3-4 days for someone to respond business?

No, just do it though, play on the console in the meantime. It’s not like they disable it or anything while you wait.

Unless it is unplayable due to the pixels, might as well get some use out of it.

They only give you the label though, hopefully you kept the box or else you’ll need to find one or buy one (not really an issue in all honesty), my RMA label was through UPS, it cost me like $18 for box & packing, probably took 15 minutes with 12 of them spent in line b/c of old people.

Absolute worst case you go through 2-3 RMA’d units with issues, before you just refund and get the regular model.

The screen costs a lot more than $90, it will probably be $200 or more. Honestly if they had just offered me $100-200 to keep it, I would have.

Nah. I think I will hold. Can’t really see the stuck sub pixels when playing so not worried about it. All of my buttons are perfect and build is spot on so not going to risk something worse and waste time. If it becomes a huge issue, I’ll just repair it myself.

I have a BOE panel with no dead pixels (yet) and even I will consider replacing it with a Samsung OLED if they become available on the ifixit store.
