Everyone’s financial situation is different. If the toy isn’t putting someone in crippling debt then why should you care? You either support the things you enjoy or they stop existing. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if it’s a steam deck OLED or a Porsche 911, if you get the smiles per dollar value you were looking for then who are we to judge?
Because before the OLED was announced everyone on this sub thought the steam deck was the second coming of Christ. Their old devices haven’t suddenly got worse - yeah sure if you want to spend quite a bit on the upgrade (selling an old deck may as well be giving it away atm), but people are saying “this sub made me do it”.
So, I can 100% agree with it’s horrible to make a financial decision based on peer pressure, or blaming it on someone else. This is why so many professional athletes go broke. I think it was Drew Brees who said about the young guys making hundred’s of thousands seeing the dude’s making millions. They were trying to live a the champagne lifestyle they saw on beer money.
You’d be surprised at the number of used Decks sold on eBay in the past couple of days for ridiculous prices. There was a 64GB model sold on there this morning for 320 dollars plus ~70 for shipping. Somebody literally spent $390 for a used 64GB model with no warranty instead of getting a 256GB model directly from Valve for $399 with a one year warranty. So if you’re wanting to sell your Deck right now you can probably find a sucker that will pay you full price and upgrading to the OLED model won’t hurt your wallet that much.
You all make such dumb financial choices, the LCD is still a fantastic device, not worth all this extra money for a steam deck 1.5

Must be tough living paycheck to paycheck.
Oh no, I have a good bit of savings. But why waste it on this? Seems pretty extravagant
The internet swears you’re broke if you don’t want to just throw money away.
Guaranteed that person is probably check to check themselves on the low.
Im sorry it was a joke, i can afford it but still feels pretty extravagant. You do you!
Even if that was a joke it’s just such a weird thing to say 😭
I must have been drunk i dont even remember saying that. Embarrassing lol
I have whiplash from the backpedaling
I also want to ask, did you actually really want the upgrades? Sure it wasn’t just FOMO getting to you
