    My Pixel would frequently show full cell signal yet not receive calls or SMS. Resetting network settings would immediately fix it, but only temporarily. There was no way to know if it was bugged without calling it. After troubleshooting with Google, they eventually had me factory reset to determine “once and for all” whether it was a hardware or software issue. It didn’t fix it, so I thought maybe they’d warranty the device given we’d established hardware failure.
    Nope.
    They told me to wait for the next couple software updates to see if it’s fixed. I traded the Pixel in for pennies on the dollar. I now have a Galaxy, and it is actually doing the most basic function that a cell phone is supposed to. I won’t be buying another Pixel.

      I think you shouldn’t have accepted the software update suggestion. This is obviously wrong on their part and IMO easily winnable

        I let them know that solution was unreasonable, they said the same crap. I’m done dealing with them, instead they earned themselves an “IT guy” who will now recommend against Google products. They lost way more than one customer with that shit.

          So many on googlepixel sub still insist the modem has no problems at all its really funny. They keep claiming the complainers are a “vocal minority” even though barely anyone owns one in the first place

            I was actually torn between getting a Pixel and a Galaxy, the pro being much less expensive but lacking some features. Guess I’m getting the galaxy, I’ve been using them for a long time anyway.

      Google can’t be trusted with software and the same goes with hardware, they just do things and wait for the next huge success like Gmail, if it doesn’t succeed, they drop it and don’t give a shit, your problem, we’re too big to care.

      My pixel 6 pro on T-Mobile does the exact same thing. Causes problems I never knew existed in 2023. Needed to call my wife to ask what type of brown sugar to get and not a single text or call would go through for 5 minutes, unreal level of braindead from Google getting it fixed too. This happens all the time with work and family related stuff that causes so much chaos it’s maddening.

      Wifey asked if I wanted another phone for Xmas and I told her another pixel was out of the question. Phone is wonderful otherwise, but holy shit it can’t make calls or texts to save a life, and I bet there’s more than one time someone has died when they didn’t have to die because of a Pixel phone’s inability to make contact.

      Tensor is easily the worst thing to happen to the Pixel line. My Pixel would also have constant cell signal issues and their support would tell me to just wait for more updates as well. I’ve been using Google phones since the Nexus S but Tensor finally got me to switch over to iPhone. I’ll only ever give them a try again if they switch over to TMSC and stop using Samsung modems.

        The “best” google phone has never been the best google phone. Their flagship tier has always been sub-par. Their budget tier on the other hand tends to be pretty good. The a series has traditionally offered one generation old tech and a great camera for a good price. There is no 8a, but the base 8 is already down to $550 so it seems to be taking that role. They do well in the mid-range.

        If you want a top of the line flagship phone buy an iPhone. No one is competing with Apple right now on that front.

      I had a similar issue with my phone. Turns out it was the SIM card. I don’t know if the one on the Pixel is replaceable, but I had to get a new one from my carrier.

      This is why Apple is still king of the smartphone market, Google is not serious. I wish that Android had more options but switched a few years ago.

      A great many of these issues (though not all) appear to be caused by a mismatch between the phone and the carrier regarding WiFi Calling support.

      Both ends need to have it enabled, or disabled, or shit like constant renegotiation, dropped/missed calls, extreme battery drain, etc. happen as the device tries to do one thing while the carrier network another.

      Did you ever find out what the issue was? I’m having the same problems with a Motorola device. I am on my second warranty unit, and Verizon and Motorola don’t seem to believe me about the situation, and I was going to get a Pixel 7 pro.

      I have no idea why people keep buying pixel.

      I have up on it after nexus 6p, knew then and there Google hardware is trash and they have no quality control.

      My Pixel 6 has been doing that shit since day 1. I want to get a new phone, but holy fuck Galaxys have gotten so expensive. I remember when I got the S3 for $150😭.

      Exactly the same thing happened to me. I waited a few months and when the next couple of software updates didn’t fix the problem I got it swapped out for a refurbished pixel. Unfortunately the replacement has an awful green tinge to the display, but you can’t win everything I guess.

      2 months and one update later (because updates are often late)

      “Sorry, your phone is out of warranty. Not our problem.”

      It’s a deliberate strategy to save Google money.

        A cellphone not working as a phone isn’t a “wait for months for beta testing” sort of problem. It’s a “send out a bulletin and hotfix” sort of problem. I was missing calls about family members having an accident and being transported to the hospital on a phone that shows full goddamn signal. Then I was treated as if this was some novel issue that they’d never heard of before, and they were “confident” that just resetting my settings would fix it forever. And if it didn’t, maybe there would be a warranty option. But suddenly, when I spent a couple hours of my time factory resetting my phone, setting all my apps back up, then confirming the issue in multiple ways - only then is it a known issue, not a warranty cause, and I just need to live with it and see if future updates fix it.
        Frankly, right now even if I had the thing back and working I still wouldn’t recommend someone buy a Pixel based on the support experience.

          And you are right, I’m not saying you aren’t… Just saying that the latest betas fixed an issue specific to this, and apparently, it works.
