So after they changed how refresh rates and fps can be limited, I can now set my rate to 15-30 fps in small steps and 40-60 fps in small steps (LCD, so no 90). But why can’t I use 30-40 fps? I’d like to go with 35 to be a bit above 30 but still close in battery life. Is there a technical reason or did they just decide nobody would want to do that? And is there a way around it?

Additionally: Sometimes when I move from >40fps to <30fps, the screen goes dark for a split second. Is that because of the “big” step between the two settings or does the screen move to a different mode, and that’s why we can’t have an inbetween?

    In previous OS versions it was possible to set any number between 30-40 not sure why now is it like this, but i read somewhere it can be fixed maybe some update will add this.

    The black flash of dark is when the display changes refresh rate it will happen everytime you adjust refresh rate / FPS limit nothing to worry about.

    Because the slider is combined now, and there’s no FPS you can use between 30-40, where the LCD screen can be set to a compatible refresh rate. From 15-30, you can frame double, triple, or even quadruple, and hit a refresh within the range of 40-60 that the screen can be set to, and obviously from 40-60, the refresh can be just set to the same. You shouldn’t be using anything between 30 and 40, regardless, if they let you, because you’d just get stutter or tear.

    Isn’t it possible to change it back to the original slider? You have to go to settings->Display an disable it under: Enable Unified Refresh Rate Management

      Thank you! I still can only go as low as 40 refresh rate and set the fps to full/half/quarter of the rate, so 35 fps is still impossible to reach. It’s either 40-60 fps at full or 20-30 fps at half or 10-15 at quarter fps, so the same limits as before apply.

      It seems I misremember being able to do this with the old settings, and it’s just a physical limitation of the screen. But I feel much better about it now, knowing it’s not something that was possible before but isn’t now.
