    Heads up for anyone who is new at this game: there is cross play with Xbox/W10 players in all modes EXCEPT ranked. If you’re serious about playing competitively, it’d be better to switch platforms. But if not [and I don’t blame you considering this is a 10 year old game] then the Steam version should be fine.

    Getting an error that I am “not signed into a Steam profile. You will be unable to proceed and the game will exit.” I can hit exit then OK or Cancel to start the Wine debugger, but it doesn’t appear to do anything. Can anyone help please?

      I kept encountering the same error but got it to work today. Try this: Hit the Menu button on Killer Instinct then go to ‘Properties…’ > ‘Compatibility’ > then mark ‘Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool’ and then select ‘Proton Experimental’ on the dropdown.
