Im currently using a Google pixel 6 pro, the phones fine and all but im personally not that fond of the video quality and the sub par processer.
Considering going to a 15 pro max or a 14 pro max. I am planning on waiting till the s24 but honestly the video quality and optimization with apps generally of andriods isnt great.
The only thing i think i will be missing out on in my daily use will be some sideloaded modded apps. Any suggestions on my part? (Ps i love telephotos)
I personally made the switch from a pixel 6 pro to the 15 pro max a few weeks ago. I’ve been using android forever but was unsatisfied primarily with the screen brightness, battery life and delayed notifications. With the iPhone finally getting usb-c, I decided it was time to give it a try.
The operating system itself isn’t that big of a deal. You get used to whatever. What has really won me over though is the app experience. It is so obvious with most apps that they have been developed for iPhone first and foremost, and Android second.
They just work better and integrate with the phone better.
Carplay has also generally worked better for me than Android Auto. AA looks better though, but CP is more smooth. Although it has some limitations like not being able to scroll too far if the vehicle is rolling.
I like the notifications on the always-on display quite a bit better on my iphone.
Gmail notifications finally arive on time. Had a few issues with Google Calendar notifications lately though, not sure why. And youtube notifications are silent even with sound being turned on. But at least they show up and on time.
Screen brightness is wonderful and the battery life is night and day compared to the p6pro. I would often finish my days under 20% on the p6pro and I usually end above 75% on the 15 pro max. Both phones would get topped a bit while connected to my car on the way to and from work.
I think photography is pretty much on the same level as other flagship phones. Video is superior though.
Don’t do it! I miss my old Android phones. Samsungs worked fine. Pixels were okay. I got the iPhone in order to be able to more seamlessly video chat with my family and end getting their texts out of order in our threads. For that it was worth it in part, however there are so many drawbacks.
- Siri is much worse than Google Assistant. They aren’t even trying. Siri rarely will speak an answer. Google Assistant has so many more abilities. It does not work seamlessly to use google assistant on an iPhone, so you can’t make the argument that it doesn’t matter since it can be installed.
- The keyboard recognition is much worse. Even when you use Gboard, it still feels like things were far more accurate on Android.
- Keyboard graphic apps are not seamless and many require that you copy and paste the image in order to use them.
- My phone unlocks in my pocket often. Something that should not be possible.
- All apps have less options. It’s so dumbed down.
- The app selection is more limited.
- Widgets are not really live. For example, I have an e-mail widget, but it doesn’t even update unless you tap it, which opens the e-mail app.
- The alarm sounds are terrible. There is a wellness function, with nicer sounds, but you only get to set one alarm that way. It’s dumb things like that.
- The blue light reducer for nighttime does not reduce the blue light nearly enough. I like my screen to be very orange by the end of the night.
- The battery life isn’t better. My iphone lasts just as long as any or my newer androids did.
- If you get so much as a droplet of water in your charging port, the phone won’t work for a day.
- The phone is really heavy. I thought that was cool, but now it has become a burden. Since it can fall out of my pocket when running around the yard with my dogs.
- The camera isn’t so mindbogglingly good. If I want to scan a picture, it can’t deal with external light sources brightening areas of the photos.
- You can’t search a single thread in the Messages app and have to search all.
- When I travel internationally, I find that I need to delete my existing threads with people in order for our messages to start working again.
- Internationally, people who I have in my contacts stop coming up by name if they don’t have country code in their contact. It’s such a stupid issues that helps illustrate how this phone is not really as detail-oriented as people might think.

Switching from a Google Pixel 6 Pro to an iPhone 15 Pro Max or iPhone 14 Pro Max can offer you a significantly different smartphone experience. iPhones are well-known for their robust video quality and seamless integration with various apps. If video quality and app optimization are essential to you, the iPhone is a strong choice.
It’s understandable that you may miss some sideloaded modded apps as iOS has more restricted access for app installations. However, iPhones provide a vast and secure App Store with a wide range of apps, often covering the functionalities offered by sideloaded apps on Android.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max or 14 Pro Max, both known for their excellent camera systems, should satisfy your desire for good telephoto capabilities. Consider your priorities and how much you value the iPhone’s superior video quality, app ecosystem, and camera performance when making your decision. It might be a worthwhile transition if these aspects align with your preferences.
I went from iPhone 6s > 6s Plus > Galaxy note 9 > iPhone 13PM > Galaxy S21 FE > Pixel 7 > iPhone 15 Pro.
Personally, iPhone is the superior product (everything just works) however the pixel lineup is usually better bang for your buck. You get better Trade-in Bonus at least where I live here in Australia. Also, customization is a big limitation on iOS, I used Nova Launcher so I could resize any widgets and place them anywhere on the screen but on iOS you have a set widget size and you can only place it around the icons and in line with the grid.
Pixel was a much easier phone to use with Google Assistant being able to do so much more especially when driving (through Waze, Google Maps etc), also google assistant has better compatibility with Youtube Music and other google apps.
Setting Ringtones, notifications etc is a pain on iOS because in order to set custom ringtones it is a tedious process of getting a screen record, extracting audio through Garageband etc.
Pixel is better if you know what you’re doing with it. iPhone is better for the average user. From what I can read with you sideloading modded apps etc (I’m guessing things like Vanced, adfree Instagram etc) Pixel will be the better pick.
Try the iPhone if you want, the value lasts much longer so you won’t have any trouble selling it second handed if you ever want to.
