I held on to my Note9 for as long as I could, but I think in a few months I’ll switch to S24 Ultra. While I’m excited for the better camera, I’ll be missing some features like the heart rate sensor, simulated home button, microSD slot, iris scanner. But the thing I’ll miss the most is the 3.5 mm jack.

While in general I’m not against bluetooth headphones, I still have 3 good wired pairs of headphones and I’ll be using them with a 3.5 to USB-C adapter until they stop working, which might take a while. What worries me the most is the fact that I’m running a lot, with my phone in my pocket and listening to music via the headphones. And I don’t mean some light jogging, I’m running fast, my phone is jumping in my pocket and I’m worried that this might damage the USB-C port on the phone.

What was your experience when you switched to the phone without the jack? Did you get used to it easily or did you miss it?

Because I already didn’t use the phone as a output to begin with, if I’m using wired ones I’d just use a DAC.

For jogging, get an arm strap case for your phone.

Strap your phone to your bicep. Wrap extra cord into the strap.

I use one of these anytime I’m doing real outdoor activity.

Makes it harder to use my phone, helps keep me engaged with the actual world.

Keeps the phone solidly attached to me, no one could steal it and I’m not going to forget it somewhere.

Only possible issue is sweat. And if your phone can survive a light sprinkle, it ought to be fine.

I use mine with a 6.2in phone, and it isn’t cutting in or anything, but if you have a smaller frame and a larger phone… Might not workable for you.

And the thing is: due to my professional knowledge (soundengineer) I find it strange they’ve ditched the jackoutput. It truly sounds better than Bluetooth and is much much much more reliable. There is a reason why we still use analog cables on-stage…

I bought an adapter, sound quality actually improved a lot because the USB-C port can output more power

If you really need the jack, you should consider one of those Sony Xperia phones. The Xperia 1 VI will be a competitor to the S24 Ultra next year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 so you should vote with your wallet

Been using Bluetooth even when I had the 3.5mm jack. I hate cables. if for whatever reason I need a wired connection I use a usb dongle.

People act like it’s the end of the world and they have to change their whole life’s around.

In the real world I have not ever heard a single person complain or even mention a headphone jack
