Opinion pieces are the fucking best.

Amd is selling gpus and cpus like fucking hotcakes, yet it isnt making a dent on the steam hardware survey. Clearly there is some mistakes or things we are not taking into account when it comes to the hardware surveys.

My biggest bet is that its mostly laptops or lower end machines that top the survey. desktops account for next to nothing.

AMD isnt going anywhere, their 6xxx and 7xxx series GPU are still selling. You can check the amazon top sellers and the german website data (cant remember the name)

I don’t think I’m the only one fitting this specific case…

      • I’ve used a 5700XT for 4 years and currently run a 7800XT
      • I do have a Steam account
      • I don’t participate in Valve’s hardware survey

So its some big conspiracy where Steam Surveys are just not counting AMD GPUs (for some reason) but German retailer stores must have the most accurate data?

From the images that this article quotes, from Q2 2022 to Q3 2022 AMD’s dGPU market share vaporizes by its half. How did they get that data? Btw Nvidia launched their Ada GPUs on Q4 2022, which shouldn’t be considered as a factor.

Let’s see steam hardware surveys only filtering accounts that have 100+ hours of gaming in a month!

The Steam hardware survey should be weighted for hours played and then also weighted again for recent hours played. Tons of people get a gaming computer in college then stop gaming when they graduate because life gets in the way.
