This kinda makes me salty. I got my SteamDeck about a year ago and just a few months ago I got the spongy/less clicky/less responsive LB button where despite the audible click you have to push it just a bit harder to register. Then I got a dead pixel in the screen. Its so hard to notice unless you look for it, but Valve customer service wants me to somehow take a picture of the dead pixel. What am, I suppose to do, get a super hi def came with 50 times zoom and awesome light exposure settings? Hoping there is a trade up option.

Damn, if Valve would give me even $250 credit for my old 512 model, I’d trade it in for the OLED version in a heartbeat. Who the hell would buy this used unit when a brand new OLED is actually cheaper and better in almost every way which matters? I’m feeling a little let down but it’s true that I’ve been using it for 18 months now, people who bought this year or even a few months or weeks ago must be feeling as salty as the sea.

Maybe GameStop will but Valve wont. Doesn’t make any sense. Just enjoy your Deck yours isn’t obsolete just because there is a new one.

I’m not going to complain about ANYTHING here. Have had mine for almost a year and feel like I’ve gotten the value out of it thus far. Love the thing. I’m almost certainly going to grab this OLED because, DAMN does the picture look sharp and I love the battery boost.

But, if I buy the OLED. Keep my OG around for a future kid or something. Then they drop the Steam Deck 2 in 1.5 years (instant purchase) then I’ll feel like a bit of a sucker and an idiot. I suppose what’d be super helpful is an actual confirmed window (1 - 1.5 years) on when they aim to release SD2.

A newer model and a price drop for the older one is the worst case scenario for “early” buyers. Shame.

I think at this point I’m going to wait for the Steam Deck 2. OLED looks awesome and I’m jealous of anyone who can afford both, but if they’re gonna drop a whole new model a year after release without a trade-in, I’m just gonna wait for Deck 2.

Same. I have 0 fomo about the screen, vibrant deck does enough. I have a feeling they will fix the wifi. As someone who travels a lot, the wifi on this thing is absolutely offensive.
