Like I know new tech comes out, that’s the nature of it. But I spent so much money on my deck, a purchase I still haven’t quite recovered from. I don’t have a lot of disposable income right now so it really sucks to see this direct upgrade with 60+ fps (something I’ve wanted to see for a long time) and not only can I not afford it, my existing deck got a PRICE DROP so I can’t even sell it to recoup my losses to buy the new one. It doesn’t help it was announced like a day ago, so I had absolutely no time to prepare and save.

This is why I try to buy things as soon as they release just because I want the max amount of time before a revision happens. If I don’t get it then I wait for second iteration as that will always be inevitable. Hope they have trad ein programs for people,in your situation.

    Welcome to life.

Buy a new car? Depreciates 10% when you drive off the dealer lot.

Buy a new phone? 20% of the value gone as soon as you open the box.

Buy a new PC? In a few months you could of bought the next step up for the same price.

Buy real estate recently in the past few years? GG lol

You can’t win, don’t think about it and enjoy what you have.

    1. The steam deck is not an investment so the fact it “depreciated” is irrelevant.
    2. Your problem itself comes from a lack of self awareness. Not because of the market.
    3. If you were happy with your steam deck yesterday, and not today because others can get it cheaper or a better version for around the same price, then surely you understand the issue given the “poor” pitty party you tried to throw yourself. Be happy for those that can now get what you couldn’t before. (And the second pitty party you threw yourself when you got butthurt at the replies)

Instead of fighting back at everyone, maybe in this case, consider that maybe they have a point? Maybe you can grow a little from this. Or don’t and just be mad at the world.

You deck already lost its value after you used it. What am I reading here.

It is just still Steam Deck 1 but with HDR OLED and so much more. As someone who is using a OLED Monitor, I am so fcking happy, we don’t need to wait years for Steam Deck 2 to come out with an OLED screen.

If you were happy with your deck yesterday, you shouldn’t be sad about it today. I am excited that Steam Deck OLED got announced today but I am not going to stop using my Steam Deck just because of that.

Original deck is still pretty good, and I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun with it. Try to stay positive. I understand that it does not feel good, because I literally almost purchased second deck today, and it’s a miracle I decided to wait till evening, I would feel terrible if it was announced right after my purchase. But even so, try to be happy with what you have. I still have my old deck, and it’s still awesome, it didn’t get worse just from the fact that new one was released.

I’m gonna stick with my lcd Deck. If I want a fancier screen and more power I’ll get a Legion Go. No swear off my bizzack.

You can still sell your Deck. Will you get 100% of it back? No. Will you at least get 50% back? Good chance.

I think you’re stressing too much over bells and whistles. Personally I don’t care about the OLED. If you enjoy it, then why worry about new revisions? You act like Valve did this to spite you in particular

Fyi steam will credit your account if you buy something (SD included) and it goes on sale shortly after. In your shoes I’d send steam support a message asking if they are willing to do the same in this case.

Why do you need 2 steam decks? Your entire argument is a little ridiculous. If you are so “poor” and both of the steam decks were offered at the same time you would have went with the cheaper option anyway. If you don’t like it then sell it but ffs don’t come on here and cry about buying something before an upgraded model was announced and act like you are some sort of victim because of it.
