I can’t believe the news of the OLED honestly, I’m a bit upset about it because Valve said we wouldnt be seeing a “new” deck for a long long time. Sure the performance is the same, but when temperatures are better, the screen is bigger (and better), and it looks way fing cooler. It seems like a whole new deck to me.

I really hope Valve creates some type of upgrade program. I would happily pay $99 or even $150 to swap out my LCD deck for an OLED deck.

Granted I’ve had my deck for over a year now and gotten good use out of it but it still feels like a slap in the face.

    Google: FOMO

Keep calm. Your Steam Deck is just as fine as it was yesterday. If you want to spend 200-300$ on upgrading … do it. But its just a screen dude. Almost identical FPS. Just wait for Steam Deck 2.

$150 is the sweet spot for me. I’d gladly pay that and trade in the old unit for a new one.

You got nothing to lose, continue enjoying your deck as if you never heard about the OLED. Then a year from now, buy it when its on sale and you know for sure the OLED has no issues.

They said there wouldn’t be a new model with different performance, they definitely did not say their wouldn’t be a mid-cycle refresh such as with an OLED. Many of us were expecting this.

Apparently Valve should just never make a new Steam Deck because there’s always going to be someone that just bought the last one. It would be completely unfair to them. /s

They never said any of that? You must have read the mixed up quoted articles

What was actually said, was that a new performance increase model would not happen until a generational change occurs

Never was mentioned a refresh couldn’t happen, actually pretty sure they hinted at one, when people asked about “steam deck 2”

Am i the only one satisfied with the one i got? Like, the screen’s better than any system I’ve ever played on, it actually doesn’t get hot most of the time, the battery runs great unless I’m playing Gotham Knights or some shit. There really doesn’t seem much of a problem.

It’s literally impossible. They had to rework the internals to make the new upgrades happen. See the LTT breakdown on YT for more information.
