I hope Lenovo updates their AMD Advantage laptops
I’d caution against the Alienware(Dell) ones because of my experience with the quality of Dell’s 2020 AMD Advantage offering; G5 SE 5505
Why:
- One of my RAM slots died
- The shell is breaking up because of heat fatigue
Software updates for the AMD parts ended in 2021wtf they’re releasing Dell supported AMD drivers again?- Linux needs special packages to use most of the periherals.
- Can’t do any of the Ryzen tuning as the Alienware Control Center doesn’t allow it.
How does ASUS justify $1100 for a 7735HS and 7600S combo when the same CPU and RTX 4050 goes for $800? Who would pay $300 more for the same performance?
These laptops are not designed to sell, they are designed to give the illusion of competition in a monopoly.
This is definitely missing several. Offhand, it’s missing several Lenovo models (I have one for work, it’s amazing) and Corsair makes one as well.
Think there’s gonna be a AMD Asus G14? iirc the only one there is is from 2021 right?
remainder amd is still selling ryzen 5000 laptops with vega gpus for which they dropped support with last driver being 23.9.2
msi alpha 15, alpha 17 and delta 15
the list misses even more some of which others have pointed out.
It’s a really meager list isn’t it? Especially in the context of the entire gaming laptop market. Advantage Editions represent what? A tenth of one percent of this year’s SKUs?
I’ve been whipping this horse for so long I don’t blame anyone who’s given up waiting.
I’d also much prefer that AMD worked more closely with Lenovo than with Dell or Asus.
Sucks to see but at least it’s a start. Intel has been dominating the laptop since forever and the mindshare is still very strong.
