My S23+ is coming tomorrow and im upgrading from an S9+. I’ve had it since 2018 and im a little sad to be switching. Espesically since as of now the only “issue” is the battery doesn’t last all day like it used to. But I know I can move literally everything over to the new phone so thats a plus.
One thing I saw on here recently, someone said your phone may seem fine but you don’t realize how bad its gotten until you get a new one.

Not always a good option. Firstly, you’re investing money in something that’s no longer supported. Second, all batteries for that model are also old and degraded at this point. Not as bad as the one that was used daily but still, it won’t be a major improvement. Third, there’s always the risk of damaging waterproofing.
