I’ve been a windows user because it’s the type of lap prop my school required. I have an iphone so I think a macbook air would work nicely alongside it but asides from that I really don’t know what laptop to pick. Any recommendations? I heard mac battery life is terrible after I while but I’ve also experienced that with my current dell laptop.

What would you be doing with it?

How about Linux OS. If you’re not tied to any proprietary software, go with Linux: Slightly less resourse hungry than windos (depending on what you do with it), Secure without having to buy all the anti virus that Windows needs. Cheaper than Apple (nearly all software is free), More stable, No compulsory updates. You can make a Linux system behave and look like either a Windows or Apple system. There are literally dozens of Linux ‘Flavours’ to suit you needs.

Just pay for your hardware, make it behave how you want, don’t update if you don’t want to, trust that your data isn’t being collected & analyzed by others without your permission.

Figure out what you need to do with the laptop at school. For some items a Mac maybe helpful with the whole intergrated IOS setup but will hurt your wallet. They currently have the best battery life on laptops while Windows can certainly get more performance out and have wider software usages.

Macbooks with M series CPU have really good battery life. Just make sure the software you are going to use will work on Mac. The cheapest M1 Air is still quite good for normal usage.

The new M series MacBooks are some of the best laptops around, and have the absolute best battery life around.

If you want to take notes on a tablet ( and from experience I 110% recommend it ) get the Lenovo yoga 7 ( or 7i if you prefer intel). I got it for my first year now in my second and daym has it been good. Consistently get about 19 hour battery life from 80%. The pen is amazing and works so well with the screen.

TLDR : get the Lenovo yoga 7 or 7i
