There is something so wrong with the industry if companies are ok with releasing such shitty optimized games. 5700xt is 4 years old, but still, it’s the generation flagman card.
Why are you complaining about Remedy when AMD was the one selling a GPU with an outdated featureset 4 years ago? Remember Turing is 5 years old and supports mesh shading.
The argument, while correct, needs the addendum that mesh shading was an Nvidia invention that they introduced with Turing. It only became part of DX12 spec a year later. The 5000 series couldn’t possibly have incorporated it in time for release.
You are overestimating just how far in advance features are set in stone. I have no doubt the Series consoles have been in development pretty much after they stopped work on the Xbox One but a lot of things can change in that time. The RDNA2 feature set was basically a last minute reaction to Turing that shipped a year before that. No doubt the console manufacturers saw what Nvidia was doing and demanded they want some of that too. AMD would have been none the wiser during RDNA1 development. You can see that in the design of RDNA2 and even RDNA3, which is different from Nvidia and even Intel’s designs, both of which were designed from the group up for features like ray tracing. AMD was basically caught off guard and had to adapt on the fly to appease its two biggest customers.
do people realize that if RDNA1 was to get mesh shaders and RT support AMD would have to delay the cards into inevitable 2020-2021?
and we know how that timeline went for x86 market and how god awful prices were
yes it sucks no mesh shader and RT support but lets be real RDNA2 midrange is as fast as what is top of the line for RDNA 1 while having feature support RDNA1 doesn’t have
6600’s go for affordable prices these days and can run the game but again consumer should not be a beta tester FFS
If you want games to continue to push the boundaries of photo-realism (which this game very much does, even on low), something’s gotta give.
Remember when every 2 or 3 years we’d get games on entirely revamped dx or opengl featuresets that required new cards?
The fact we’re getting 4-8 years out of a GPU these days is incredible for the consumer even if it is a sign of overall stagnation (where is DX13, Microsoft?)
Ever since the consoles moved to x86, as well, and every PC port became based on trivial one-click ports from console builds, it’s become super easy to just build a baseline gaming PC based on hardware that is equivalent to console, and spending more is “nice” but completely non-requisite. You’ll note that a 3700X+6700XT build has no problems with this game, and can be built affordably now.

Because the series x was well into devolopment before the 5700xt even came out and that has full DX12U support.

See if you can get a 6700xt used. Got mine for $325 CAD, MSI Gaming X version, beefy cooler and quiet.
No point, it’s only 25% better for 350€, while the 7800 XT is 100% better for 630€.
It is optimized. That’s the whole point, the 5700xt doesn’t support the optimizations.
