I always said that the bigger the better when it comes to display size, and once you go big you can’t go back to smaller size (no pun intended).
I have the A54 which is amazing for what I do, all but one thing, convenience and security. I like using the fingerprint sensor, and security is the most important factor for me. That said, I have come to realize that the optical fingerprint sensor is hardly secure, and easily fooled by a 2D representation of the registered fingerprint, whereas the ultrasonic scanner that scans in 3D is virtually impossible to fool, and that is my only reason I am considering an upgrade.
Has anyone gone from bigger screen to smaller here? I would like your 2 cents, thanks.
Went from a Poco X3 pro 6.7 inch to a s10e 5.8 inch. You get used to it after a while and barely notice it.
Nope
I had a OnePlus Nord (6.44 in) and upgraded to an S22. Didn’t see any drawbacks with the smaller screen, only positives honestly (better fit in pockets, way easier to use with one hand etc.)
In this summer there was an amazing value trade-in deal when buying an S23 series phone tho and I upgraded to an S23 Ultra (upgrade to an S23 would’ve cost me 150€, it cost me 250€ to upgrade to the S23U).
I chose the Ultra because the deal seemed way better value and given that I had an Exynos S22, I really wanted good battery life. I also enjoy the S23U’s cameras a lot and the S pen is nice to have.
But sometimes I have thoughts that I should’ve gotten the S23, because I don’t really need this massive 6.8 in screen and the smaller form factor is much more convenient and comfortable for me. And given that the S23 also has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and a battery size increase compared to the S22, I think it’s battery would’ve been good enough for me.
When eventually in the mext few years I will be willing to upgrade, I think I will go back to the smaller form factor.
So yeah, it’s really easy to adapt to a smaller screen and learn to appreciate all of it’s perks.
What kind a stupid question is this? Just because someone else gets used to it doesn’t mean you are. And the fact that you stress about this… weird man 😒
It’s fine but the lighter/smaller phones do have less weight and it shows.
(Coming from a S10+ to S23+)… S23+ is heavy.
The A54 is a brick as well, but believe it or not whenever I held an older and skinnier phone I felt as if it is less of a phone even though width and weight is never a good thing, crazy I know.
Edit: Cost is also an issue, and I don’t want to overspend for the Plus or the Ultra model, I want an ultrasonic scanner as cheap as possible, and I am not interested in older phones so the s23 is the only candidate.
You will get used to it. I went from 6.7 to 6.57 to 6.2 and now to 6.1 on Iphone. The hardest jump was from S21 to Iphone 14 even though it was the smallest change. A few weeks and you won’t remember the bigger phone.
I went from A52 to S23. No problems. I actually like this size more now
That’s not a Drastic difference
I went 6,3 to 6,2 to 6,1
Yes, I went from 6.6 to 6.1 It took a bit to get used to it.
I moved from an s21 fe (6.4 inches) to the s22 (6.1 inches, same as s23) and it wasn’t a massive difference. You notice it for like a week, but you adapt to it relatively easily.
If you can, I’d recommend checking it out in the store, or even the s22, they have basically the same dimensions, it’ll give you an idea.
This days with smaller screen size also other components are weaker like cpu, storage, refresh rate, ram, camera lenses…
On a phone, its hard. I went from an s22 ultra to an s22 base, and I missed the screen size. I also missed not having shitty battery life.
On a tablet, no problem. I just went from an s8 ultra to an s9 base, and like it much better.
You buy A series because you like affordable big screen, I buy A series because I can’t afford expensive small screen. We are not the same.
Yep, for me, that was possible. 6.7 -> 6.4. It is pretty noticeable while typing and reading emails. But after some time, it’s usable and doesn’t bother me so much. Also, the smaller phone fits into the pocket a bit better, and reachability by one hand with 6.4 for me is perfect.
But that doesn’t mean that will work for you, so try the phone out irl before buying it, if possible.
I live in constant fear to get trapped by my 3G capable TabA7. This thing reports to Google that is is a phone… I think when I use it too much, I’ll never be able to leave the house without it anymore
