Hello,

I am about to buy a steamdeck mostly to play games.

Moreover I want also to use it as my daily windows computer just to do some stuff I am unable to do on a mac (mostly prepare my emulation roms, flash sd card for my others handled, scrap boxarts).

I want to make sure that if I manage to install windows on it and if I use a dock, screen, keyboard and mouse : it will be exactly as any PC ?

Thank you

If you’re handy with Linux then maybe you could but I wouldn’t recommend it as a PC replacement. ROG Ally or the Legion Go are basically handheld laptops with windows 11.

The default Steam OS can be used as any PC. You don’t even need windows, it can do most things well enough

Yes you can, it’s really a pc, I’m using it with dual boot (exactly triple boot as I have android native on it as well, not perfect but working) from day one of receiving it and enjoying the best of the 03 worlds!

Believe me, I tried to use my mac a lot but I ma always blocked by software incompatibility … I own several handled and when it comes to CFW, flashing, scraping artbox and so on, windows is the way to go. I hate windows but for some stuff it is sometimes easier… moreover I am not a terminal expert :/
