Question on Q1/Q2 gang that have used their Deck for about 1.5 years now:

are you getting the OLED too? I just sold my “old” Steam Deck and I am getting OLED version to sniff “that smell” (I am not even joking) + to get better battery life and the godly OLED display.

I just hope the “waitlist” isn’t going to be authentic to last time. Steam’s website blocked me for pressing f5 too many times and I had to wait 30-45 minutes to preorder :U

What are you going to do my fellow Q1/Q2 gang?

Option 1: Upgrade to OLED

Option 2: Upgrade to OLED to sniff the fan once more.

Option 3: 1 and 2

Option 4: Stay on revison 0 until Steam Deck 2 arrives (or until it breaks)

(Q3 can vote too. By voting I mean you write Option X in comments :D)

I received mine near the end of Q2, but mine is still fairly new because I had to RMA my original one after almost a year due to it not booting anymore. So I was able to smell the vent all over again when they sent me a new one. Lol. I don’t really care about the OLED at this point. I find myself using my gaming PC more these days anyway.

I had a GPD win mini preordered with the plan to give my LCD steamdeck to my Wife. When I saw the steamdeck oled announced I immediatly canceled my order. For the same amount of money I can get my wife and I both an Oled version then sell/gift the original steam deck.

That is huge. Technically you could gift your Steam Deck to someone you know and make them a big pc gamer if they are not already. I don’t know why but I like advertising for Valve for free. I really like them xD

I really like what Valve has done with the new OLED 1TB model (it checks all my boxes) and I happen to have just enough disposable income, so I’m happy to give them more money (if they let me to) as a form of recognition. If I don’t manage to preorder one on Day 0, I would just hold on to my LCD Deck and patiently wait for Deck 2.

In my case, it’s Option 1 with Option 4 as a fallback.

    1. I got my steamdeck early of this year. I’m going to wait until steamdeck 2, and use the money that I would’ve used for oled and put it towards games I want

That would be best case. However I had to sell my old one to be able to order OLED version. :(.

    Launch gang here:

I intend to sit on things until Steam Deck 2, so option 4.

I have no issues buying another Deck, I also bought the Steam Controller so I am a fan of Valve hardware. My only condition is that whatever I buy must be a significant upgrade over what I have. OLED does not meet that for me other than the screen and battery life.

Trying to convince myself not to bother, but I use the heck out of the deck and would love the better screen and higher refresh rate for lightweight platforming games. Probably buy it and figure out what to do with my old one once it arrives.

Buying OLED, keeping LCD. I still have my atomic purple GBC from childhood. It’s the only Gameboy in my collection I never modded. I will be doing the same with my first Steam Deck.

I think I got my 64gb Deck in October 2022. I ordered a 1tb SSD today. Been getting by only with the 64GB plus a 200gb micro SD. I’ll be donating that micro SD card to my Switch.
