This update makes vibrant deck obsolete, the colors look very good. I recommend this update. Of course it’s a preference thing but I have a picture of my settings and I think it looks very good. Try them out on your deck. I can’t wait to see how great the new Deck has to offer with the new OLED.
It’s night and day.
The only downside of this option is that you cant set it on per-game basis,
like you could with VibrantDeck plugin (which unfortunately stopped working for me)
Vibrant deck is still working for me. You can use it as supplement for new setting.
Same thing on my end
What are the downsides to going to preview mode? I’ve always done stable.
It’s just less stable than “Stable”. I can keep the Stable version running in desktop mode overnight for days on end, but the Preview versions always have these little bugs. Nothing showstopping, but enough it may or may not freeze when sitting unattended and on for such a time period.
Updates every other day get annoying after some time. Never uad any bugs except for some occasional reboots, but those resolved after going from -50 mV to -40 mV.
Not all the issues have been ironed out.
I’ve bricked an OS in 3.5 by removing a SD card after a game was being uninstalled, turns out the uninstallation process was not over and It borked steam OS.
Just had to reimage the deck after that, so, not a big deal.
Unless you’re playing emulation or Starfield, which both benefit immensely from 3.5, stay on 3.4 until release.
I wonder if the more frequent updates on preview also means that you need to redownload your shader cache more often?
Hopefully 3.5 will go out on stable branch with SD OLED release
is this new option replacing the previously shown vibrancy slider? the picture shown looks useful but the slider would still be a nifty feature, just updated and dont see it, unless thats a non-stable feature?
Stable is rough as hell right now. Thanks for bringing this to my attention OP.
Does this setting actually mess with external monitors? Because that would be horrendous.
No
I personally liked vibrant deck better. Does anyone know how to get it working again?
Are you getting the 200/1040mhz bug?
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1176
This is thing worrying me about 3.5 reaching stable.
Yes, can confirm, but I haven’t noticed that it causes performance issues so I didn’t bother.
What bug?
Fyi 7000k on the deck is closer to other screens 6500k which is accurate. If you want a true (ish) screen run 7k.
How to access this?
I did this as well. I hope it hits stable channel soon. I really dig the OLED deck, but I’d rather experience my 512gb deck with 3.5 for awhile first.
I switched back to stable and it still says I’m on 3.5, huh
You have to restart the Deck and search for new updates again, it will then download the older version again.
How does one access this?
Would you say this looks better than vibrant deck? I have mine at 175 so I’m a saturation hoe ngl
If you think 175 looks good, you might not enjoy a properly calibrated display.
