I have a ton of non-Steam games and other things set up on my Deck and having to set all that stuff back up on an OLED Deck sounds like a pain. Every game redownloaded, every non-Steam game store sign in (heroic launcher), every custom artwork add, every proton version selected, every Decky loader plugin plugged back in, everything else I’m forgetting about.

Some of the things that I’m forgetting are things that you wouldn’t remember when actually doing it and not just things I’m forgetting during the typing of this. So I’m almost feeling like if you buy a Deck it would be easier to open both up and swap the SSDs.

If you have a PC / laptop, you can start transferring games to it (copy them to steamapps/common folder, then hit install in Steam, it would verify the game install for you). Then when your OLED Deck comes, just hit install for the games and have them transfer from your PC / laptop.

confirmed that just swapping the SSDs work, it’s what i’m planning to do myself. if it wasnt this easy i definitely wouldn’t have wanted one. My UI and game arts are so neatly arranged, plus all the zillion emulation settings already done … glad they though of us …

I will be doing the same. While it’s out I plan to pull a backup of it just in case.
