Looking for those games that you may have heard about but never tried until you got a Deck. Or old games on systems you never had that you’re trying for the first time. Or new AAA games that just released in the last year or two that you picked up for the first time specifically to play on Steam Deck and have kept you glued to the device.
I’m trying to reinvigorate my old, nostalgic love of gaming and hoping to find the perfect Steam Deck + addicting game combo.
A bunch. I play a lot of roguelikes and can easily get 3-10 hours into multiple games a week if they catch my interest enough. Here’s a few I can’t put down except to switch between them:
Dome Keeper 10+ hours
Nova Drift 2+ hours(picked it up yesterday and I’m enthralled)
Backpack Hero 3+ hours( got it yesterday with the 1.0 release wow it’s good!)
Oblivion Override 8+(Dead Cells like that I love right now)
Wall world 2+( want more hours as it’s great),
Peglin 3+ hours, Dredge 10+, ahem >!
BaD 25+!< cough, Dave the Diver 10+, Voidigo 6+.Astral ascent and Roboquest both got a 1.0 update and I foresee they will get 10+ hours when I get to them, both patiently waiting in my library for their chance.
Slay the spire
Ori is really fun on the steam deck
I can’t find any games called Ori. Is there a different name it goes by?
Persona 4
Kingdom two crowns. I owned and never played until I got a SD. Then I was obsessively playing it XD
Katana zero
Didn’t really discover it per se, but I couldn’t get into Hollow Knight until I decided to give it one more shot on Steam Deck and it finally clicked for me. Honestly I’m not sure why I struggled with it for so long considering how much I typically love metroidvanias, but I’m so glad I tried again.
Half sword. Free demo only right now but it’s so fun
Roboquest! FPS Roguelike, it’s very addicting.
Dead Cells. I always thought about picking it up but never did. Then I got my Deck and saw it on sale, now it’s my go to game when I’m traveling or have like 5-10 minutes to play something.
I already know Ima get hate, but I never gave cyber punk a fair try until the deck. and wow it’s been a great play through
Bricktales, where you build random lego structures and move around in a lego diorama… God I love it so much.
Dying Light is a fucking blast. There’s something about the first-person free running on a screen that close to your face. The story itself is meh, but the gameplay and fighting had me glued. No idea how DL2 runs, but 1 was acceptable, if a bit fan and power heavy
Farming Simulator 22. ONE MORE PASS
Weird take but THE LONGING is such a good game for steam deck. It uses irl time as a mechanic so it’s so easy to pick up and play for a bit, set a timed task and close the game to go play other stuff for a bit, circling back every now and then throughout the day.
This game has been on my list for a while
