Wtf. 90 and HDR? Guess I waited for the correct time to start it. Full ultra/Highest settings?
I would stream all day if suspend resume was supported when streaming. But it’s not. It’s the best feature of the Deck, and you lose it when streaming. I can’t start a game, exit, start again etc everytime I want to play a game. This is not why I have a Deck.
I don’t think it has anything to do with the AMD GPU. It’s just software. If Valve controls both ends (client and host) it would work seemlessly with the Deck.
Based on the Linus video review he was told my Valve that they didn’t use a display hardware part that makes VRR necessary as they would have to source the display from a more expensive source. So there’s a hardware piece missing, so I’m not sure if VRR is possible at all.
Sounds like she would love it.
Yeah but it’s still not a Steam Machine because the most important function suspend/resume still won’t be supported when you stream to the Deck. For me, that’s the only thing I need a Steam Machine to do: stream high end games to my Deck with suspend/resume working.
Of course. A Steam Machine that can play AAA games with ray/path tracing and stream 800p highest quality footage to my Deck over Wifi 6 with support for suspend/resume is all I can think of.
I’m actually wondering what is taking Valve so long to make it. It’s a no brainer concept and will prolong the life of the Deck for a good 5 years. I play the Deck 99% of the time at home.
I think they’ll release one with the Deckard to power VR.
My wife has been playing Hogwarts Legacy for 9 months with no issues. No hoops or ladders. No special Proton thing.
Wait we can buy movies on Steam?
I think there should be a community-based system like Steam Input. You choose a profile you want and it directly feeds into the game’s ini file.
The logo looks painted on. Beautiful.
I ordered Thursday 11pm, and it’s arriving Friday while I’m gone. Sigh. Technically it’s 6 business days, but I expected living in NYC to mean I’ll be on the closer end of the deal.
No they should make more hardware. Namely, a Steam Machine that can stream highest end AAA games to my Deck in 800p with suspend/resume supported, path tracing etc.
Yep, and if rumors about the Deckard being a Steam OS console acting as a standalone compute unit that wirelessly communicates with a light HMD, then this same console would also be able to stream to the Deck with suspend resume supported. That’s what I’m holding out for.
If this is USD, then wow you would have definitely overpaid. I’d be very lucky to get $300 for my pristine 256GB Deck. Which platform did you buy it on? (Craigslist, ebay, marketplace etc?)
If that’s CAD, then you really need to make that clear in your post.
It baffles me how much Valve ignores streaming. We almost all have powerful PCs. We need HDR,low latency streaming with the OLED HDR device that has Wi-Fi 6.
I understand that there’s little they can do regarding suspend resume being borked when streaming until they make their own Steam OS console, but Steam streaming has always been lagging behind it’s competitors.
I had Nam flashbacks of one hour of steam store crashes costing me 6 months of wait time.
It helped sway me towards the all-black OLED model.
The Arkham Trilogy on the Deck is chef’s kiss so good.
