It’s an example of a game done right imo. Bleeding edge visuals that scale down. Great writing, acting, art direction and gameplay. It all comes together so well; it’s no surprise it will be commended for years to come.
DF sure love their Alan Wake 2 and will obsess about it for years, similar to the various version of Crysis.

Is it better than Control? That created a lot op hype at the time, but for me it was… fine, I guess? Not bad, but didn’t exactly blow me away.
Different kind of game but it’s very refined and imo is one of the strongest recent AAA arguments for games as art.
What recent games have blown you away? For me it’s been cyberpunk overdrive, portal rtx, and this game.
They love improvements in graphics tech and that’s why we bother with them.
Without them, benchmarks would entirely and solely be about higher FPS numbers
