A ex steam deck player here.
You won’t know how good the trackpads are until you migrate to a platform with a much lousier pad.
Was whining about it until I realised I had a trust steam controller stashed away. All smiles now.

Adding 1 drop of water on the screen? May magnified it haha
The concept is called just noticeable difference. The 7% was sort of taught in my marketing class years ago before internet era but it just hung around in my mind. It probably refers to size or price ratio where we can shift it to shape behaviours without detection
Human detection is kicked in significantly when the difference is more than 7% hence this screen update is surely a notable one!
Kudos to steamdeck
Anyone started testing the plastic polymer chain to see if they differ?
Wonder if any devious minded people order the LE and the non LE
And do swaps of parts before returning 1 of them
This is a hard or software issue?
Is the slightly bigger screen not a plus point?
I have 1 but not sure how to use it.
It came after I have my steamdeck. How do U compensate for 1 shortage of joystick on the right assuming U using the right pad as a trackpad?
My games are mostly RTS and was able to play wh3 with my deck with many pause hahaa.
Can U buy the steamdeck oled? I really want steamdeck 2 to be out soon!
Haha just kidding bro. Just enjoy Ur set and it will still serve U well.
I like to chase new things but even I find it hard to agree with OP logic.
If U can’t afford to chase then slow down, 1 to 2 years the oled still be there. Steam deck 2 maybe there.
It’s not like steam suddenly change their game format rendering Ur 1st gen steamdeck not usable.
(I am looking at some handphone manufacturer who sort of induced planned obsolete with certain updates which may slow down older phones- at least Samsung did it many years back for my exp)
I have left steamdeck for Legion go but still play my RTS using the steam controller just because that’s how good the trackpads are.
Missing 1 joystick on it.
A steam controller based on steam deck be a godsend for me.
Now I just bring my legion go screen and my SC. Best combi
