1·10 months agoWeird shit like this is a reason why I’m almost reluctant to get rid of my absolutely perfectly working LCD 64 gb. Never had an issue. No issues post 3.5. Nothing.
Of course I want an OLED something fucking bad so I’m going to pull the trigger eventually, but damn, I hope I don’t have any issues.
Have an offer on the table for 300 CAD for my 64 gb LCD. I could use that money for an OLED but I’d have to pay an extra 470 dollars CAD. That’s just for the 512 OLED.
Alternatively I could buy the IFIXIT Kit for 180 CAD and upgrade my current deck to a 1TB SSD. For about 290 dollars savings this is the route I’m seriously considering until the Deck 2 in a year or two.
What are my 64 gb LCD bros doing?
Man speaking of Tetris…I’m really curious to see how Tetris Effect looks on that OLED screen. I remember getting super stoned the first time I played it on my big screen and I was just in absolute awe lmao
Honestly, I’ve considered it and I’ve decided that the answer is no. It’s truly not worth it imo. Even if I was to sell my deck, I would still have to pay almost another 350 CAD just for a gen refresh. Plays all the same games, no performance increase etc etc… I could do so much more with that money.
My steam deck works great. It is mainly an indie and rom machine. Yeah, I play it handheld a lot but if I need to be thrilled by visuals then I’ll play AAA games on my tv and XBox.
There are certain things that are pretty appealing, the faster charging and longer battery in particular. Is it worth spending THAT much money just to have the new shiny thing? Nope. Not at all.
It will have 63% improved performance on the new model. Throw your old one out…

How recently? I’m assuming VERY recent (30 days or less) I bought mine May 13th.
Errrrrr I want the OLED but damn I have an absolutely PERFECT LCD with zero issues since I’ve had it earlier this summer. No issues with the screen, firmware, nothing. Damn, sometimes I read this shit and I’m just like…do I REALLY want to sell my perfectly working baby and risk something like this?
