The OG Deck shell I found to be a bit slippery. I ended up getting grippy stickers for the “handles”, buttons and sticks.
The OLED LE solves this. The shell feels just grippy enough, and the buttons feel just right. And the touchpads are a whole different (good) story
Materials and haptics. Had to relearn how to type on the trackpads, they’re so strong. The material is more grippy and tactile all around. That’s, alone, is worth it.
Got an LE, can’t confirm if the plastics are the same on the regular, but I would bet the haptics and buttons are, at least.
I kind of get it. My kneejerk reaction was also “oh, that’s going to be weird” which was almost immediately followed by pangs of nostalgia, and quickly forgotten.
For me, though, it was the purple game boy advance. And see through game boy pocket.
Never got one of those n64’s though, that would have been rad.
For real, I ordered, frustratingly, an OLED LE, and when the update finished on my og SD… I for a moment experienced buyer’s remorse.
Goodness the UI color tweaks were something I didn’t know I needed.
I’m glad you said 6. I keep thinking I might be hallucinating, but I’ve been switching back and forth between my OG and the LE and… At first I thought it was the textures, but now I’m not so sure. Something is different about the shell with regards to feel. Maybe it’s the age of the OG (launch)?
