Has anyone gotten pushback from Steam Support regarding their RMA request for dead pixels?

I submitted my ticket with pictures. They finally got back to me 2 days later and asked me to continue using it for a few weeks and if it doesn’t magically get fixed (It’s a dead pixel, not a stuck pixel) then they’ll take my Steam Deck in to get fixed.

  • You’ll want to change the compatibility for Black Mesa.

In your Steam Library go to Black Mesa > hit the gear icon > select ‘Properties…’ > Compatibility > and check “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool”

Either select Proton Experimental or Proton 8.0-4 (latest ver.)

After that you’re solid. I had no problems running the game on ‘High’ for the Earth levels. Performance took a hit from Xen to the end though, so may want to drop it down to ‘Medium’ after that.

  • I got my Steam Deck OLED LE on Saturday and found zero issues with the screen. Played for a few hours Saturday and some more on Sunday.

And now I have a dead pixel. Part of me wants to RMA cause I love the look of the LE but I may just refund it and get the 512 GB version. I’d hate to get it fixed and get another faulty BOE screen. Would rather just upgrade the storage and change the shell myself at some point.

  • I’m in a similar position and bought the SD OLED hoping for the same thing.

I stopped gaming for awhile due to lack of time, but now that I have more free time I only play phone games and watch anime. Just have very little desire to play.

Today my deck came in though and I installed Black Mesa to test it out before going to bed. I ended up playing for two hours! It’s still too early to tell, but really happy to continue playing through and see what this thing can do

  • Purchased my Steam Deck OLED LE on Thanksgiving and it came in today!

Immediately did the pixel test and have no dead pixels! Played a bit of Black Mesa and installed Dragon’s Dogma. Will be playing for a few days and do another dead pixel test as some people reported dead pixels popping up a few days after use.

Been in a bit of a gaming rut, so I’m hoping the SD can pull me out of it.
