If games have a save system that saves exactly where you are, no. I just save and close the game and put it to sleep.
But if a game has a save system that resets progress at a checkpoint, yes I’ll suspend so I don’t have to do something over.

I’m going to add $20 to my wallet every paycheck from now on so I can buy the next deck that’s announced at the last minute.

Valve may put themselves in a precarious state if they announce too early. People won’t buy a 512gb deck if they know they can get a better one down the line for cheaper.
I agree that Valve needs to be more clear about their target refresh and upgrade windows so that customers can or should expect a new revision every 3-5 years and a refresh every 2-3 years. Similar to the console space. We get new consoles every 6-10 years, and new refreshes every 3-5 years.
But all that being said, it’s very easy to end up like SEGA announcing new products too early or even having too many refreshes and releases in short windows.
Valve is probably watching this sub or waiting for feedback from consumers and will hopefully improve in the future. But I 100% believe they announced this last minute because it would have put a strain on sales and potentially cannibalized Q3 sales goals. Keep in mind OEMs aren’t going to provide components to a hardware provider if they notice a significant decline in sales.
This is the type of refresh I’ve been expecting. Slight die shrink, improved efficiency, slightly longer battery life, and essentially the same performance across the board.
I will be waiting for the Steam Deck 2 and skip the Steam Deck 1.5.
Although, if there’s a clear cut way to upgrade the screen and battery on my current deck through ifixit using OEM hardware I 100% will consider that.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
FUCK.
I’ll get a OLED when they release the SD2.
