Yep. I sold my gaming PC (Ryzen 2700 and RTX 2070) to get the Deck because I played it that little. I also have a laptop that I use for work and for personal use. It’s been a good time.

I would be wary of recommending monitors since they don’t have built-in upscalers for the Deck’s 720p resolution. If you want to get a monitor, I recommend a 1440p so it scales well.
I wonder if the new fan would be a drop in replacement for the LCD. I also understand the heatsink is a bit different too, and wonder the same.
It’s possible that if people ask Cryo, he may do it for a video and test it out.
Assuming it is just the Deck and the case, with no extra accessories or upgrades. $280 would be the absolute max. It also better be nice and clean with no blemishes for that price, and the battery would have to be with 2% of 100% life. I know the refurbs are $280, but that also isn’t after tax and there’s a small gamble of getting that is defective once you receive it. At least with a person selling it, you can test all the inputs and check temps in a game pretty easily.
May benefits I’m seeing over the current model are a slightly larger OLED screen (smaller bezels) and a larger battery. I also see the APU got a die shrink which may also help with power efficiency.
Main thing is how long do you want to wait? I’m sure there will be a large back order just like there was with the original, and it could be months before you get the Steam Deck. It’s all hypothetical, but something to consider. They may have learned their lesson the first time and got a good stock of OLED models before making the announcement.
Yes it works quite well. I recommend getting a 27” 1440p monitor instead of using 1080p. That way there is no pixel shifting when playing at 720p, and FSR enabled can look cleaner as well. I use my Deck docked a lot as I stream on Twitch (with a cheap stream PC attached).
