  • FYI the OLED screen is 90Hz if I remember correctly.

For me, and given the fact that I don’t use the deck that much, but appreciate having it a lot when I actually need it, it would take a lot more to justify an upgrade. Right now if I sold my deck to get the OLED one I’d be losing 250€, the oled screen and added battery life are not worth that much to me.

Now when something like a Steam Deck 2 comes out, with better performance using maybe Zen5 and RDNA 4 in the APU, maybe a 1080p OLED screen as well, keeping the trackpads and controller layout, maybe some more I/O like a bottom USB-C port for docking, basically when the original deck becomes obsolete enough that it needs a replacement, that’s when I’ll be considering buying a new handheld.

I don’t have the money to spend on another portable device, also while I do love my Deck everytime I used it, I’m not using that much compared to some of you on this sub.

And while I see my 256GB model as a good investment, including the 512 GB microSD, the Jsaux dock, the mini foldable keyboard and the USB powerbank, I can’t justify losing 200€ from what I spent at the time by selling it second hand to someone to get the upgraded version.

It’s great that new buyers will have an even better experience, but I’m fine with my deck and it does what I need it to do, so I’m in no rush to get the newest shiniest thing.

When the overhyped ROG Ally got announced I felt it might’ve been better for me to wait instead of buying a Steam Deck, then I saw a couple reviews of it and I was glad I bought a deck after all.
