When a friend asks about the deck and say the graphics or quality probably isn’t good, what game do you load up to show off to them?
For me, marvel Spiderman is my go-to
most AAA game that I have is probably Apex lmao. It runs at a pretty stable 60 unless you’re up in the ship so that’s pretty good considering only the ps5/series x can do above 30 fps on console for apex.
Alan Wake 2
I think spider man would be a great choice and relatable to many.
Though I don’t have that game and tend to uninstall when I’m done. So I’d show off Mad Max right now. Plays smooth, nice graphic per screen. Some people may know from movies. Show off the action too.
RDR 2 for the prettiest graphics, GTA V cuz it can run at 60 fps while also having high settings and also Cyberpunk
Pong
God of War. Runs at “original” settings beautifully. It’s crazy to think there is a handheld that can do PS4/Xbox One performance. In the right conditions it can actually be just a little better - I don’t need it to be more. I am not chasing modern AAA game performance on a handheld. The others who try get nuclear hot and have to be wall tethered. There are mechanical limits right now - but it’s an exciting format that I am happy to see growth into. What will the next Steam Deck be capable of, or the next ROG device etc.
Does it hold 30 now at least? I played it when I first got my deck and without fsr it was in the 20s on lowest settings, and fsr looked horrible and also couldn’t maintain 30
It was already with FSR2 when it got it’s verified status, still, there are some dips still when you play through Alfheim
FSR off, resolution scale 100%, motion blur and film grain off (preference) deck and software set to 30fps cap, graphics original. Locks 30fps, no dips.
Thank you for this! I’m redownloading it today then
I played it many months ago and I’m no fan of fsr. I did set it to 65-70% scale. Will look abit low res for sure, but I don’t like this fsr flickering.
I did play it on stable 40 fps.
I don’t think, that 30 are stable without any kind of scaling.
I am pretty sure the steam deck silicon is different in every device
If your is not working correctly as I have played heavy titles before without an issue you may need to speak to steam support
Metro Exodus
GTA V or monster hunter rise
I’d go with Monster Hunter World instead. It has more going on in the screen and Deck handles it fine, although I went straight to 40fps and never looked back.
Rdr2 easily the best show off, maybe once i get fallout 4 up and modded that would be a good choice too
Just finished doing this. Seventy six weathers and UIO make it look nice.
Rdr2 or Marvels Spiderman
How do you get rdr2 to run stable
i always try to keep a “high end” game on deck, i think my go to right now is Fallen order? that or doom
Super Mario Wonder lol
Do you have it running without stuttering? I have wonder on a beefy rig and it stutters but I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole of doing it on the deck yet
If you use yuzuu on windows, using the glx graphics backend instead of Vulkan might help. Saw a video the other day that vulkan might have a problem at the moment.
FF xv
Forza Horizon 5
What settings are you running it on?
Final fantasy 7 remake. With dynamic resolution off it looks brilliant!
I had to stop playing this on steamdeck due to crashes. They were rare, but always in a bad spot where I’d lose some progress.
