Ive got a PS5 as well. I always wished I could play my PS5 mobile and not have to buy mobile versions of the game. I got a steam deck a year back in anticipation of starfield. When I realized the implications of how steam worked I built a nice gaming rig and my PS5 has been collecting dust. To have a gaming library that grows over the years without having to worry about backwards compatibility… What was I thinking for the last several decades.
Sure PS5 has a few exclusives that will eventually come to PC but PC has soooo many games that will never come to consoles.
I’ve got a 2TB SSD currently and will be replacing the new decks 512GB one with it. Not sure why I would clone anything.
Just about everything plays great on the deck except some new games. I would like an updated processor to stay current but not at the expense of battery. I like the bigger screen, the reduced bezel for the deck 2 would be good. Less weight. I don’t care for track pads, so losing those would be ok if there is a benefit in weight/cost. Would like the ability to run a full size SSD. I hope we don’t get removable controllers!
I get the feeling valve will never produce the most powerful handheld. They want it to be very affordable so they are waiting for tech to advance so costs come down. They will then use 2nd gen tech instead of 1st gen. With console wars everyone wants the most powerful console. I don’t think that’s what valve is after.
Runs fine for me with no adjustment to anything. It’s slow to load though. I run mine docked as I hate using the pads for rts games.
I made a steamdeck a year ago in anticipation for starfield and once I realized the implications of a PC library that grows over the generations and playing cyberpunk on a top of the line PC, shutting it down, and then booting up my save on steamdeck in bed is amazing. My PS5 has been dormant for a year and I’ll never go back. The PS Portal just goes to show the direction Sony is going. I get it, the PS5 is for a budget minded gamer that wants a consistent experience…not me. I’ll be PC for life. Thanks Steamdeck!
