Wouldn’t putting caps on the thumb sticks make it so the capacitive touch on them no longer work?
Like I love having the right stick set up so when I lay my thumb on it gyro becomes enabled. Works great in Doom and Doom Eternal

Modded Skyrim. Specifically the immersive and adult collection for the steam deck
Yes. Sold mine yesterday to go towards the OLED version.
I totally disagree with your points. Not the title. You def don’t need the OLED steam deck. to your points tho.
The switch OLED was a step up from the original V1 switch and a great upgrade. 32gb internal to 64gb. A better kickstand. A more premium feel. Bigger and better screen that does make games look way better to the point I rather play in handheld than on my TV (don’t have an OLED TV).
Steam deck OLED has more upgrades than just the screen. Bigger battery. Better feeling. WiFi 6. Better battery performance due to the newer chip (much like the switch OLED has better battery over the V1). Ram is faster as well. Device is lighter. 90hz screen now instead of 60hz. Bigger screen. A bigger and quieter fan.
Most people’s number one complaint with the steam deck has been the screen and that is going to be huge for them. The light bleed on the LCD screen is bad. OLED is a great upgrade.
Switch not appealing because of Nintendo makes no sense to me unless you view Nintendo as strictly “just for kids”
Tons of games on the switch ranging from E to M. And Nintendo hasn’t been requiring games to be censored on the switch compared to over on PlayStation.
Very simple and straightforward to use. And dock experience is much smoother on the switch.
Steam deck has a learning curve but it is so worth it.
I have both handhelds and love them both.
