Nah because while the steamdeck is really good, it isn’t as good as most gaming PCs, and its battery is too poor. It is of a similar power to my current PC from 2018, but this PC does everything else better, such as games that run better on Directx 12, or Discord, so I only use the steamdeck if I’m out, travelling, or playing a game that simply feels better on the tinier screen (Heroes of Hammerwatch, Monster Hunter Rise).
I’m on the waiting list for my OLED to come in…
What is this “3 to 5 days” false advertising from Steam?
Heroes of Hammerwatch on the lcd. OLED is in UK Shipping Hell.
They’re clearly taking on way more than they can handle and refuse to admit it or increase the number of employees or deliveries
I actually got a gamecube after trying some gamecube games on steamdeck. I decided I wanted to play the games with my sister.
Unfortunately she’s moved to the USA so that probably won’t happen anymore… but she got me a dock on her way out, so if ever I want to use the steamdeck for multiplayer, it’s possible now.
My biggest issue with the console by far is that sometimes if you run the battery down it just breaks. You can’t do anything and the unit is running at like 200 amphs instead of 1600. The ONLY way to fix this is to go into the BIOS and enable Battery Storage Mode and you may have to do this twice.
Im quite annoyed this came out so soon after the original steamdeck if im honest.
Reminds me of how i had an original DS for my tenth birthday and then my sister had a DS Lite the next christmas which was better at every level!
When did this start? Was it working slowly the last time it was turned on?
Perform the following:
- Hold the power button for 11 seconds so the unit turns off.
- Hold the Plus button, then press the power button to power the console on,
You should be able to access the BIOS menu.
-Go into Power/Battery settings.
-Enable battery storage mode, click “YES”, it’ll either reboot as per normal or you’ll need to turn the console back on.
This fixes a specific bug which causes your steamdeck to only use below minimum power settings and stay on the boot screen for a long time.
I see a lot of people who ordered oled having issues with dead pixels and no delivery, I think honestly the years taken off their life with those problems might outreach the benefits
