I’m only salty because this dude got both the review unit and the one he purchased on release day while I’ve been sitting here checking the shipping status for a week with no updates :'(

The simple answer is to buy both and then determine for yourself.

I got both of mine in yesterday and will be returning the 1TB next week. I hate the fact that I lose some color vibrance and sharpness. Glossy wins for me.

That feel when you go for more expensive option and get worse screen 😂 I saw a lot of cope yesterday in taki udon video discussion of people trying to justify their 1TB steam deck purchase that there is no difference. It’s still preference for wanting less reflections but glossy one is objectively better for image quality. I’m so happy with my 512gb order after watching game corps video 😊

one is objectively better for image quality.

The only objective measurements we have - hard data - suggests they’re essentially the same. Subjectively, there are arguments in certain lighting conditions depending on what’s more important to you.

Did you even watch the OP? Because you’re saying the opposite of what it showed as if it’s fact without showing any reason you should be believed over the evidence.

You can apply a glossy screen protector to the 1tb model, and you can apply a matte screen protector to the 512gb model. There’s really way too much discussion about this shit.
Imo get the 512gb, it’s cheaper. Shove in a 1tb, 2tb or more drive I the future if you need more space. I’ve got a 1tb microSD card so a 512gb does me fine for now.

Russ at Retro Game Corp already said adding a glossy screen protector to an etched display leaves the haze while adding the very reflections the haze should be dealing with.

So no. Whatever clarity you get from doing that, glossy screens are better.

still confused why valve do not have higher resolution for the OLED and stay at low res 800p for the excellent OLED screen.

I prefer etched but got glossy because I was already spending more than I should by upgrading from my LCD deck.

in every comparison video I’ve seen, one of the OLED models looks noticeably softer to me even with video compression. The difference is definitely there, it’s just a matter of preference.
