Sounds like you got a lemon and should have sent it in for repair while you could.

This is why you test your new unit the way it shipped before changing out the SSD. You wind up in a place where you don’t know if it worked and likely never will if it doesn’t work when you inevitably swap it back.
Looks like Valve decided to end it before it was fully cemented as the worst unit to get because of the potential problems with the BOE panel.
They’ll probably just quietly mix them into the production line going forward.
This post’s logic of “people with good experiences don’t post” and posts like it keep ignoring the fact Samsung panel owners are posting just as much but without the problems.
Say yours isn’t bad, fine, but don’t try to handwave away the reality.
Avoid the Limited Edition to avoid the BOE screen that has a greater chance of dead pixels, but it isn’t a guarantee either way.
Already at 20% off. I can wait for the big drops as the Diablo 4 cycle continues and Starfield gets closer to what it’s actually worth.
In the meantime, they can fix as much as they are able without admitting to themselves the parts they broke in the design phase.
Be sure your network’s ssid isn’t hidden.
I imagine the OLED panels could be considerably more expensive given the minimum unit with one is $550.
You are obviously a burrito of wit and class.
FYI: RMA’s are usually done using refurbished or returned units. Valve’s validation process clearly thinks a certain number of dead pixels is fine, so RMA’ed units for replacement just for dead pixels are going back into the pool for replacement without the dead pixels being addressed.
You’ll probably start trading dead pixel units for dead pixels units, given how many are saying they’re having it replaced and how “limited” the run actually is.
And every reported LE comes with a BOE panel. So far, every non-LE comes with a Samsung panel.
If you want off the dead pixels train, you may have to abandon the LE or do a full return and re-buy entirely.
One of us, welcome, one of us.
The significantly reduced heat and temps make me finally feel comfortable playing games that push it to the limit. My OG just got so hot and this one does not.
I think they’re comparing the number of people with non-LE units saying their Samsung panel is flawless to the number of people with LE units saying their BOE panel has dead pixels.
Just reading the thread, it’s overwhelmingly negative for BOE. This isn’t for lack of non-LE examples, either.
My only problem so far is God of War crashing the whole system, but apparently that’s a known bug for all SD’s. I haven’t installed CryoUtilities yet unlike my OG.
No dead pixels, Samsung panel, no etched glass. Looks amazing and games run from 10-20 degrees cooler. This is the difference in BG3 or Elden Ring feeling like the back can cook eggs with a vacuum to vaguely warm and a gentle fan.
The OG is like a crude prototype for this device.
The true “limited” unit is the 1tb non-le because next to no one bought any. They either wanted glossy glass or to save money; OR they splurged, got glossy plastic, orange highlights, and a bold subreddit flair.
512gb OLED US, Samsung, no dead pixels
Did you even watch the OP? Because you’re saying the opposite of what it showed as if it’s fact without showing any reason you should be believed over the evidence.
Russ at Retro Game Corp already said adding a glossy screen protector to an etched display leaves the haze while adding the very reflections the haze should be dealing with.
So no. Whatever clarity you get from doing that, glossy screens are better.
The guy who made it is still figuring out if it’s better to use it or not on the new OLED. I’m not installing it until he does an analysis. If you use a drive with it already installed, you can use the uninstall to ditch it, but it could return the system to factory defaults and only later we realize the factory defaults for 3.5 or just the OLED are different.
To be sure, you could install the new/existing drive and then use the flash img to completely wipe the drive and start fresh.
