I have a feeling in this thread people have no clue how shipping works.

Black Friday sales are all here already and shipping is under strain. Some of you are in backwaters that get a regularly scheduled postal van per week, others are in Berlin Mitte and even 100 vans a day can’t fill the new backlog of all shipments. It is all luck. Always has been, you guys are just impatient and unreasonable.

      Counterpoint.

Company sells new popular product around time of heightened shipping. Makes unrealistic shipping estimations. People irritated by expensive product not delivered in line with estimations.

GLS and other shipping providers are aware of the rush around this time of year and should ramp up - as lots do - or set more realistic expectations.

It’s fine to hold companies to account for delivering on their commitments. If people want to be pissed off about that or impatient that something they paid a lot of money for isn’t arriving when they expected - why is that a problem?

Exactly this. We may not understand how shipping works, but Valve should, and they said 3-5 business days.

I’m not even necessarily mad about how long it takes. I’m mad that people who live in the same place as me and ordered after me are getting theirs days before I get mine.

I’m shocked people are passing this off as so normal. I have ordered several items after ordering the steamdeck through different sites and different couriers in preparation for the holidays, and all have arrived days ago - and absolutely every single one has fallen within the originally stated order estimates.

5 days for shipping is completely understandable, but to state that and not even come close to meeting it for seemingly the majority of orders, while providing no meaningful shipping updates. Then to still be listing these estimates while day 1 purchasers haven’t even had their items shipped is just purposefully misleading at this point. If support are telling people who complain “2-3 weeks” that should be on the listing.

I am also aware that the device is shipping from the Netherlands to me in the UK and will have to clear customs, but Valve are also aware of this and gave these same estimates - and as you said, others have received it, despite ordering later, with no transparency as to why; it’s a complete mess.
