I’ve tried a couple sleeves/cases, some thumb caps, the stick on pads for L/R 4/5, and I always end up removing them because I actually prefer the feel of the plain Steam Deck. Anyone else have this happen where whatever they slide or stick onto their Deck makes it feel “wrong”?
The only accessory I have on my Deck is thumb grips for the sticks. They feel way too slippery for me. I tried playing DS3 and my thumbs kept slipping off for some reason.
If you’re really rough with your deck or have a child playing with it, getting a case and screen protector isn’t such a bad idea though.
Ya without the thumb grips the sticks are some of the worst I’ve ever used. Almost as bad as the N64 stick.
I like the default thumb sticks
Any thumb grips recommendations?
This is the only mod I’d do too. It’s necessary
I got these puppies, work great! Made a huge difference in the usability of the deck for me.

I use those too. Had the jsaux ones but they were slippery
This is the one I got: here
It’s cheap and you have a lot of options here. I used CQC elite for both sticks but the skin one was also good. Didn’t like the FPS one at all.
I agree it’s really the only thing it needed. Even Valve agreed with the Joystick revision on the OLED
That’s wild for me, because my og deck the sticks are kinda concave, but the new deck they’re almost cup shaped. No way my thumbs are slipping.
I just got hands on with my new OLED deck and yeah, the sticks are significantly better. I’m glad I don’t have to take off the grips off the old deck since they’re a pain in the ass to get on in the first place
