Very good analysis for new cards, but a used 6800xt cannot be beat price to performance.
I got mine - Lightly used - For 300€ and i feel like i just stole money from the dude i bought it from.
The 7800XT has AI cores, which are dormant now but might get used for whatever AI-enabled feature AMD develops in the future. For that alone, all else being equal, I would recommend the 7800XT. It also has better RT performance than RDNA2, and is very efficient if undervolted, while also overclocking much better than RDNA2.
Yep! I have the 7900 XTX paired with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D cpu and I am always amazed at how good it performs!
Well fuck me, guess who just put in a 7800XT about 2 weeks ago…
400 bucks for 6800? Damn thats cheap, I paid 567 eur for mine 5 months ago.
“worth it” depends on how deep the pockets are of the person buying them
“better value” is what should be asked.
The 6800 at $399 is nuts! I dunno if I can stomach the power supply and power draw required though.
I ran one on a 600w for a while. Not sure what you are expecting…
A 550W psu with ~200W power draw (depending on undervolt and game it can be even better) is that much?
What power supply lmfao? I run a 7800xt on a 650W PSU if you care about it.
went for a value 7900xtx instead (cheaper and only 3 slots), i find the performance the gap between 7800xt and 7900xt to be too big.
I agree. The XTX is only 10% slower than a 4090, but the 4090 costs 60% more in MSRP. It’s a real bargain, especially if you get it for $900.
It’s 20% slower at minimum
If you are an overclocker, N3x cards are less interesting as they are completely locked down while you can increase all limits except max frequency for n2x cards. 6800xt can get around 20-25% more performance with OC even on air, so it’s value would be actually higher than stock performance suggests
