I have decided I want to get 32MB or RAM. I assume its cheaper to buy elsewhere but is it worth the uncertainty vs just buying directly from Framework?
Is this https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-5600MHz-5200MHz-4800MHz-CT16G56C46S5/dp/B0BLTDRRLF/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2QR8M6CIJKNCJ&keywords=16GB%2BDDR5-5600%2BSO-DIMM&qid=1698300741&sprefix=16gb%2Bddr5-5600%2Bso-dimm%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-2&th=1 compatible with the 13?
Don’t know if you have your FW 13 yet or not. If you don’t have a way to test the ram, I suggest waiting until Amazon has their extended holiday return window. Supposed to start Nov 1.
I am in batch 5.
That RAM is perfect for what you want
There’s a list from framework detailing validated modules https://knowledgebase.frame.work/what-ram-memory-is-supported-in-framework-laptop-13-ryzen-7040-series-B1M60foth
Many others will probably work fine too though.
Dude 32MB RAM is way too little even for the most basic Linux distributions.
Seriously though, that RAM should work fine.
640K is all you need.
Of course, always get at least 32TB
We have a server with 2TB RAM at my job. It’s amazing.
Still more RAM than the Apollo missions (4KB). But yeah, I meant 32GB.
you really should get much more ram
I have the same kit and it works perfectly with AMD system
Micron/Crucial DDR5-5600 is a very safe bet for AMD FW13, should be fine for FW16 also. Its known to work. G.Skill Ripjaws CL40 DDR5-5600 also is known working.
RAM is historically cheap at the moment. If you think you might bump up against 32GB with whatever you’re planning to use your machine for its good time to be going 64GB. In 3 or 6 months RAM could very well be back to $300/32GB - Its a commodity. Once the supply glut clears prices will go up.
I have the 64GB version of that kit and like glumpoodle said, it works fine for the AMD Ryzen 5 7640U Framework 13.
I have that exact kit and can confirm it works with the AMD 7640U board. A lot of us bought that one when it went on sale a few weeks ago.
i have corsair ddr4 and works perfectly, probably any works fine
Personally, this is only because I live in the UK and the price difference between non-framework ram and framework ram is £20 at the moment.
So I’ve added that to my order.
