Fuck IGN I really don’t care what they say about the Deck anymore. I already watched Dave2D, Tested’s Long video, Digital Foundry, LTT videos. I might watch IGNs later on.

You were doing so good up until this point. Gamer’s Nexus, Digital Foundry, The Phawx and Retro Game Corps is what you wanna watch. Linus and Dave2d for mainstream content.

Game’s Nexus bored me out of my mind especially that they had no actual device. Did RGC even get a video out?

Nicer screen, faster Wi-Fi and separated Bluetooth connection, longer battery. Same price.

Looks like a good upgrade to me.

Weird how this revised version is out and the original still isn’t available in so many countries. I live in Australia and got mine online but it’s still not ‘officially’ available here which is a shame

How can ign say no performance improvements when it comes to frame rate? Digital foundry literally shows improvements in performance.

Makes me feel like they didn’t really test it…

Because its IGN. I don’t know why people follow that garbage. Digital Foundry, Gamer’s Nexus, The Phawx, and Retro Game Corps is where you wanna be at when it comes the review of the SD OLED.

Not enough of an improvement to give a shit. It’d be cool if you could swap the new battery into an older one but it’s not worth swapping the whole device.

I’d always bet that my next device would be a different manufacturer but with SteamOS installed anyway.

I wonder how dim the oled display gets. I love playing my current deck in bed and it has a very dim low brightness setting.

Being a day one SteamDeck holder, 18 months of solid use the thing that excites me the most is the battery increase. To be able to get 2-3 hours of solid gaming rather than around 1 will make a big difference to me. Oled is nice but gimmie more sweet battery time.

I already get 3-3.5 hours of battery on the OG Steam Deck. Playing last gen games though. Will be 4-5 hours on the new model.

This is a great revision indeed. Everything is upgraded. Awesome work from Valve 👍

I feel the same. Just bought a steam deck as a gift for someone a couple months ago as a Christmas gift. Had I known this was coming with battery capacity, I would have upgraded mine and given my used 512. :/

This might be enough for me to feel like I can actually untether for a while. I usually just play on the couch but it’d be more comfortable to not have to be plugged in all the time

I mean, I think you’re going to be blown away by the screen if you’re snubbing it off that much. OLED @ 1000nits HDR (much, much support for HDR today in games) and 90hz is beyond exceptional compared to the current screen. Trust me true HDR is a transformative experience.

No doubt there will be plugins available like Special K and the like to plug HDR into virtually every single game (barring those online games with aggressive anti-cheat), as well.

Anyway as someone who’s used first iteration HDR monitors years ago, this is very exciting to me. This will be the first time ever that an affordable option for high nits true HDR will be in people’s hands for an affordable price, appreciation and widespread use of HDR will skyrocket after this – I am very excited, and shocked no one is talking about the new deck from this perspective.

100%, the screen seems amazing but that cooling and battery life improvement really makes it the hand held I’m waiting for.

Is there any info on what stocks will be like? I’m in the UK and my deck is within the return window.

I don’t want to return my deck if it’ll be months before I have a reasonable chance of getting my hands on an OLED one lol
