I feel very sad that only 2 months after a big sale that they announced a new console for basically the same price I got mine for on sale instead of announcing the new console snd then putting on a big sale.

I know people say my console is the same now as it was before the OLED was announced, but its been objectively devalued. Considering the price has lowered and that they announced the new console right after 2 big sales, I feel very cheated - especially considering Valve has been known to be quite pro consumer before. This is definitely scummy.

Honestly I just feel really sad and like my hard earned money was wasted and there’s now a much better version for basically the same price. It really has knocked my mood massively and I just feel like a moron that’s even totally scammed. I already feel guilty about spending any money and this has made me feel like even more of a sucker. As stupid as it sounds it’s affected my self esteem that I didn’t see the signs coming that they were making something new.

I sympathize with you man, but everyone here just kind of loves cumming over steam deck, if you can’t afford the new one or feel burned they’ll just ratio you and call you entitled

You really shouldn’t be giving those kind of feelings much thought in the tech world, this new deck is effectively a Steam Deck 1.2, it’s not a massive improvement in performance, just extra features mainly and a bigger battery

Don’t let it get you down. It’s not your mission in life to be a savvy consumer, no matter what our world of constant advertising and targeted marketing might have you believe. Yes, there is a better model out soon, but the one you have is still awesome. Hang in there!

I can’t believe there’s people out there who are letting some bit of tech destroy their whole mood, man.

Ffs. Get a grip. Talk about first world problems. Your deck is the same as it was the day you bought it. I only got mine just over a month ago but I’m not complaining because I’m happy with the product I purchased.

If you are going to be like this I’d suggest just no longer buying tech. Because a newer, shinier model of anything is always just around the corner.

Mine is from august 2022 and has not devalued 1 cent. I’m using it to play, not to sell later.

And that’s how the tech world works. What do you expect they do? Stop sales for 6 months until they can announce a new one?

Like the Game of Thrones ending, you’ll be annoyed for a day or two and then you’ll get over it.

Just enjoy the Deck now. It’s still great. Or sell it right now and hope that you find a willing buyer that doesn’t read the news lol

Almost day 1 user here. Disappointed for the lack of clarity from Valve. However, think about the next version - it will be even better. The thing that stops me rushing to it is that it’s a marginal upgrade and being a digital console, you can play your games in a better way on the next versions or Steam Deck 2.

Just play your deck lol it’s not that big of a deal. You didn’t buy an investment property it’s a video game console the only way you get your money’s worth is playing it. Who cares about the newer one.

The current LCD steam deck is pretty good and has no issues and is still getting updated.

The Newer OLED looks pretty good, but who knows if there are issues down the line. If you truly want the OLED, I would buy it 1 year from now when most of the issues have been ironed out if there were any.

Absolutely nothing has changed in the tech sector. Valve put the LCD Deck on sale to get rid of stock so they can make room for the new hardware. This happens constantly. Always has. The only way to make any predictions on what a business does is to have a seat in the board room.

It’s ok for me ! I would upgrade if the new deck had better performances. And this is cool if it can get more users to the device.

This is good news. It means they are going to continue with further generations. The Deck is still a great piece of hardware. I don’t go out and buy the new phone every year just because it’s a little bit better.

    Take a breath, settle down.

You can’t base your buying decisions on whether or not something MIGHT go on sale. I bought a 64gb deck for 400$ and less than a month later it was on sale for 350$. It doesn’t make my 400 dollar deck worth less, I was just envious of the sale price. Whichever you bought isn’t worth less, you are just envious you are not getting the new device/deal. Their are entire markets wishing they could buy the base Steam deck as not all countries are served.

In the tech world this is the most common thing ever. New and better things come out every single day. Enjoy what you have. It’s not like it suddenly became worthless or useless.
