  • Gaming laptops are sort of an awkward middle ground these days. Desktops give you the freedom of build variety and going as powerful or as budget oriented as you want and are generally a better experience when compared to Laptop gaming on a desk. The fact that you can upgrade them every few years instead of the entire system becoming obsolete is also a pretty big plus.

Laptops are also not quite as comfortable to carry around as the Steam Deck is either. You can play the Steam Deck comfortably anywhere, and it isn’t as annoying to lug around as a whole laptop.

Gaming laptops have their place, but it’s a far more niche market now. For the people who just want to be able to game portably the Steam Deck just makes a better gaming device than a laptop.

The only people I can see that could benefit from a gaming laptop is someone that really wants to game and work on the same device they take to their job. Having a Steam Deck, I’d take the Desktop + SD over a gaming laptop 99/100 times
