The only HDR game I have right now is Spiderman Remastered. I enabled HDR in its settings, set its max luminance setting to 1000 nits and I’m honestly not sure I see any difference to SDR mode. Perf Overlay shows HDR is enabled, so maybe I need to change the “paperwhite” level? (which is what I think they’re calling the whitepoint?)

You mention “HDR should be at 100% (obviously) in Steam setting!” - where is that exactly?

Yeah, I like the idea of pushing out the specific games that need alternate layouts. I actually meant to reply to OP about the general point of “push everything into Steam” vs “don’t do that”.

I’m curious how many of those systemd unit files you’ve actually read while making this list. By way of an example, the first one in your list is a oneshot service, ie it’s something that runs, exits and is never restarted. It’s going to make a tiny improvement to boot speed and nothing else.

I’d suggest utilising the relevant systemd metrics tool to see if you’re actually going after targets that are worth it. These things are all installed/enabled for a reason and you’re risking weirdness down the road.

I only use the Rom manager to put EmulationStation in Steam. I have way too many ROMs installed to put them all into Steam. This way is much cleaner imho.

Parcelfarce did this because they are inept.

I had exactly the same thing happen with them recently. They were able to get the package back, but I assume only because it had been partially opened and whoever got it wasn’t interested in owning a Hatchimals advent calendar.

I don’t want to rag on Valve too hard, because the Donk is incredibly good value for money, but I’d honestly rather pay £10 more and get overnight shipping from competent couriers, than the drawn-out nonsense of GLS/Parcelforce.

I would bet that Valve chose a logistics partner who receives the pallets of Donks from manufacturing, then splits them down and packages them for shipping and use whichever service they have contracts with.

ie I doubt Valve is choosing which last mile couriers are in use in each country.

Bear in mind there are multiple models of Donk. They’re probably processing each model separately, and if you’re buying one of the less popular ones, you may get it quicker.
