God I had this issue it was annoying as hell.
I had to force the deck to only use 2.5ghz over the 5g, in the wifi settings. It’s a problem with some routers I think, I couldn’t figure out how to change the router but this worked as a band-aid fix.

It’s because the steam deck won’t tab over to the proper window.
If you launch it in desktop mode, or just press the steam button, go home. Then go back to the game you are playing it should switch windows to the setup page. Once you finish that it should work just fine.
I had this problem less than a week ago, good luck fixing it! The game works fine aside from that glitch, mods too.

It depends on the game, I’ve not had issues with many games modding scenes but some take more work than their original methods.
Technically upgrading the memory chips to 32gb and faster speeds could help with a few games, and allowing more vram. But I don’t think you want to pay for that upgrade.
That’s literally the purpose of the device…
I heard it’s a 5-10% increase in fps/efficiency. Which can be alot or nothing depending on the game. Same with the memory speeds, for some games you can get a whopping 1-2 fps, for others it could be 5-10.
Honestly don’t expect the OLED to make or break games, if the deck couldn’t comfortably play it before, it probably can’t now outside of a few niche cases.
Fine motor control when aiming.
Analog sticks for big sweeping motions, flicks, then gyro for small adjustments.

I’ve started chunking away at the backlog and playing old childhood games. I used to just play the same 2 MMOs, and got bored of gaming.
I couldn’t get vampire survivors to stick, it felt too boring. But somthing like 20 minutes till Dawn clicked for me. Which is odd considering they’re so simmilar.
you get like 1 action button. And a shoot button. And a reload mechanic. Slightly different enough to keep me entertained.
This is one of those things in gonna have to fix when i open up my deck again.
I forget about it then notice it again and it bothers me until I forget about it and notice it all over again.
ULPT: Having trouble opening the steam deck case after removing screws? Drop the deck in the case, onto a carpeted floor, approximately 2.5 feet off the ground and it should open like magic. 👍
Sounds like you gotta RMA it, unless you want to crack it open and try to fix it yourself, if you even can.
I’d do a stick replacement but don’t you need to solder the analog cap back on for the touch capacitor or something? Or are those now Included with the sticks?
I use prism launcher which I downloaded from the discover store. I play modded mc just fine with it.
Dualsense is what I’m looking into, the edge apparently can have the back paddles mapped in steam input, and the touch panel works as the 2 touch pads. It also has gyro, it seems like the best bet. I don’t have a PS4/5 or dualsense, but that seems like the best from what I’ve found looking into it latley.
