Looks like I have BOE screen. Idc but it’s interesting to know the differences. My blue subpixel is hard to see. It’s white text so idk how it’s not shining blue that bright. The size of the subpixels is consistent and has even spacing.

Horizon Zero Dawn. The glowing machines and holograms look amazing in low light. The sky and fires have really good brightness in HDR too.
Chained Echoes. It’s so damn good. Gameplay. Story. Music. Good shit.
First time Steam Deck owner. Got the LE on Wednesday. Bought a fuckton more games to play on it as well.
Says delivered today. Suppose my watch has ended now. Hoping all is good with the screen and dead pixel stuff.
LE est delivery date is tomorrow! Came into my city at 1pm today. If only I could just drive 15 mins to the warehouse and pick it up now. Ughhhh. Now I play the waiting game for tomorrow. Is it 8am delivery or 8pm? Should be around 1pm to 3pm based on the past 10 years of tracking data since I’ve lived here lol.
Ordered the LE minutes after launch. Finally got estimated delivery date of Wednesday. Ugh. A little frustrating but it’s whatever. Happens with every new product I order lol. Usually with those, everybody gets their delivery on the same day. Happy some people got theirs already though. Enjoy!
I ordered an LE only minutes after launch. Mine only says label created and hasn’t actually shipped yet. I’d guess it’s like Wednesday give or take whenever I actually get it.
Tracking number came up at Friday night. Tracking page just showed up this morning. Only says label created. So, no dice yet. Ugh
Waiting for OLED. My first game I think is going to be Sea of Stars. I love the pixel art with some 2.5D perspective and modern lighting graphics. Octopath Traveler is probably next up. Sea of Stars is just cheaper and supporting a small developer is cool.
LE finally says shipped. Now I just spam F5 the tracking page until I see estimated delivery date.
Anybody have a timeline on their order updates. I just got on packaged items. Does it have to move onto picked up by carrier until I get a tracking number?
I might have got one around this time anyways but the OLED definitely put the SD on my radar.
Tbh all I want is to play the games I have on my Switch but have the customization of a PC. Skyrim is a good one. About 30 fps and sub 720p on Switch. On SD, I can get whatever FPS I want based on settings and get mods.
Same goes for simpler games like platformers or roguelike games. SD OLED, I can play at 90 fps in those and the selection on PC is a lot wider.
On one hand, waiting a week or more for the OLED model to arrive sucks. On the other hand, it will be after the autumn sale starts and Black Friday. Gives time to buy a bunch of new games. There’s a lot that I’ve never bothered to play on my desktop that’d be really good on a portable.
The glass on top of the screen is etched with the anti glare. The glass is optically bonded to the display. So for all intents and purposes, the screen/glass are one and the same.
There are non optically bonded displays where you can technically can replace the glass independent of the display itself. You can tell pretty easily, especially on touchscreens, because there’s a small airgap between the glass and display underneath.
Mine too. I want the transparent shell and I’ll try for that. Idc that much about storage or the screen glass. I’ll be fine with the 512 gen if I don’t get the limited edition. Can always put an anti glare screen protector on if I hate the reflections.
A lot of the fast paced 2D or top down games will benefit I’d think. Hades is my first thought. There’s a lot happening on the screen so more frames is better. I imagine platformers with combat would be good too. More frame updates has to improve timing and whatnot.
Ah. Rogue Legacy was the roguelite game I was thinking of. Everytime you die, restart as a descendant of your character with random traits and abilities I think. That’s a really good one. I love the art style on the 2nd game too.
I think it’s somewhat misleading considering that most people aren’t playing in a room with studio lights. By far the most common cause of glare is windows. It’d be more accurate to compare in a room with like one light on and the blinds open.
I’m glad they went the direction of efficiency. It’s cheaper to scale production than a brand new chip. What good does more performance do when you’re looking at a black screen after an hour or two because the battery died so fast.
It’s already a pretty big device to begin with. Eventually I see them splitting the lineup with a thinner Deck Lite and a Deck 2.
The former being same performance as current Deck but significantly thinner and lighter. Doing another die shrink of the current chip would allow smaller battery and cooling while maintaining similar battery life.
Then the Deck 2 being essentially just the form of current Deck but with 50% better performance and maybe capable of RT. They will probably make it a little lighter and smaller but not by a significant amount.
Bluetooth plugin alone is worth it. Adds a Bluetooth menu to the quick settings. Allows me to connect to headphones without having to dig into the settings.
I guess another good one is adding “time to beat” under the games page. Tells you about how long it takes to clear a game. Never know if a game is just 10 hours, 40 hours, or 150 hours. Good to know what I’m getting into.
