Purchasing steam deck was an experience I would like to forget. But now shipping is equally messed up.

I mean delivery estimate of 3-5 days is bad to start from. I live in the UK and maybe Amazon spoiled me a bit but these days I expect things to get posted next day for delivery a day after. Especially expensive items.

Steam delivery updates are borderline useless. My current status is “shipped” since Tuesday…it’s 5th working day today. So they failed even on their own bloated estimate. Looking at Reddit it seems there are many others in a similar situation.

If it was a random guy from eBay sending a deck somewhere from the middle of nowhere I would understand…but ffs this is a multimillion dollars corporation with almost unlimited resources that has done similar things in the past.

Steam get your act together! Reputation is not easy to fix.

Never forget that human beeings are in thsi process and if you believe it or not. They do have a life as well. Also seeing UK mentioned, you have to know that it comes from the Netherlands wihich is EU, UK isn’t. So that makes fast shipping even harder, even if we ignore the fact that thousands of people ordered the same time and prolly days after that as well.

It took 3 days to ship it from NL that’s bad in my books. They knew there will be demand. They had resources and previous experience. Yet they fcuk up

It’s quite simple. Have distribution centres in major spots so that you can send stuff people paid for the next day. Sorted. 3 days max and everyone is happy.

Steam isn’t a charity. They are massive corpo with no.1 objective being a profit.

Just to comment that I live in NL and day one purchase it’s still pending. IMO the problem isn’t with Valve but with GLS Europe. My bike had the same delivery problem a couple of months ago. It will be delivered but with some pain.

Maybe but it’s Valve’s responsibility to make sure their couriers are up for a task …

I know it will be delivered but damage has been done

You’re being downvoted a lot so I wanted to let you know that I agree.

The deck is for sale in the UK, so it’s not out of the question to expect Valve to have stock in the UK, ready for shipping on release day. Same goes for another high demand areas. Valve is just cutting corners by not having more localised distribution.

Thanks. Good to know there are people out there with some common sense not blinded by the corpo brainwash

Even if they distributed all Europe from NL I would expect to deliver within days if they planned properly

What a spoiled brat… Hope you will break your deck the next day after getting it, and hope it won’t be covered by warranty. That will teach you a lesson that reputation is not easy to fix.

    maybe Amazon spoiled me

Exactly this. If you’re ordering from a vendor who isn’t a massive corporation dedicated to logistics, this sort of thing is normal.

You knew you were waiting for months tho, while in his case they stated 3-5 days and they still havent received it in the 5th day. You knew when buying it u were going to wait a long time, it was your choice to wait that long

    Your just out of touch.

I’m in the UK and got a steamdeck took a week or so last year. of course I was eager to get it and I think it got delayed but I trust Valve to deliver it and I dont expect everything to be one day delivery becuase Amazon absolutely screws people on delivery

I went on a bit of a spending spree during the Black Week/Black Friday sales this week and I’ve orders stuff from Valve, Samsung, OnePlus, Amazon and Playmobil (delivery from Germany) every single item arrived apart from my Steam Deck. Samsung took 2 working days, Amazon delivered stuff the next day before afternoon, OnePlus took 4 days and Playmobil 5 days (It’s from Germany so I get it) but fuck me, where is my Steam Deck? It’s been marked as shipped for two days now. ParcelForce tracking says that it was put on the system two days ago and zero updates since. What a dumpster fire.

I cannot take your post seriously when calling 3-5 days a “bloated” estimate. It means you have lost touch with reality.

Not sure what reality you live in but my where I live infrastructure is spot on and everything I order gets delivered within a couple of days.

So 5 days+ and rubbish updates are entirely due to incompetence on the seller’s side

Sorry mate this is on you. I’m also very impatient and was hoping to get it sooner. But 3-5 days and getting even close to that with the wave of orders that they got is quite the achievement. Stock has been amazing and units have been ready to process since orders went live. I think the scale here is hefty and you should be glad it’s as smooth as it is

NGL I’d be upset too if my deck hadn’t arrived before a holiday. I ordered a retroid pocket 2S for my birthday but at the last minute I got bumped to the back of the line and had to wait 2 weeks before I got it. I also agree that some shipping services are pretty ass.

That being said, nothing you can do now but wait. Getting upset unfortunately doesn’t do anything but give you a headache. Take a breather and carry on. You will get it sooner than later and when you do it’ll be worth the wait, I promise you that.

Ahh yes and steam stands behind the couriers paying them extra and giving them plenty of time to deliver?! I don’t approve of what amazon does but don’t confuse lack of planning and management of the process with ethical/unethical behaviour. Steam is a big corpo just like Amazon, the same principles (or lack of) if you think otherwise you are naive

Believe it or not, most of the carriers Valve uses (I have no idea why you think the company is named ‘Steam’.) are unionized. :P

Probably coincidence. Unionised doesn’t mean they don’t piss in a bottle. I’m sure the courier who will bring my deck will have a smile on his face ;-) it’s probably going to be the same guy who delivers Amazon’s stuff

Valve is profit first just like Amazon. They are not a multi billion company because they are giving more than they are taking.
