How do I transfer files from my Steam Deck to my PC?
I used Decky and downloaded DeckyRecorder to make a YouTube video on 7 Days To Die but I do not know how I can transfer the mp4 file to my PC so I can edit it.

The video is only 19 minutes long. But why does the video take up 1GB?

Recorded video is uncompressed (or compressed way less), so yeah recording requires a ton of storage. You can transfer the file the same way you’d transfer between any two computers. Network sharing, flash drive, memory card, Google Drive, whatever you want. Heck you can upload direct to Youtube from the Deck.

How would you transfer it between two PCs?

Network share? USB drive? External hdd? Cloud upload? Local ftp server? scp?

You can just do any of that.

Use Winpinator on PC and Warpinator on SteamOS (Search for it in the app store thingy)

Connect both and boom, transfer made easy.

Raw videos are big. That is not unusual. Typically when recording light compression is used since the type of compression typically desired is time consuming and can’t be done in real time.

As for file transfer, I find the easiest way is using SFTP/SCP which is built in to Linux, and thus, the Deck,

Look up a guide to enable OpenSSH on the Deck, there’s a few out there. You need to do this to set up SSH/SFTP/SCP.

Once you have that on, you can use a tool like WinSCP (my choice) on your PC to connect to the Deck using the username deck, the password you set in the guide, and the hostname you have set in your Deck settings (steamdeck by default). Then you can transfer files in both directions.

Regular SMB sharing. I have my PC’s drives shared on my home network accessible by phones and other PC’s on it, the steam deck is just another device that accesses it and vice versa.

Warpinator is trash. Shared folders / ssh access are convenient but painfully slow. In your case putting the video on sd card and then plugging it in the pc will be the fastest.
