  • I tried it few weeks after release and it ran poorly on lowest settings with no FSR. People here tend to say that it performs fine (even fantastic lmao) until Act 3 but it’s just typical r/SteamDeck copium. I didn’t even finish starting area and didn’t want to play it anymore on the Deck. Jarring frame drops are very frequent, it’s an almost constant stutter.

Check video linked by other user. That’s BG3 experience on the Deck from.

  • Steam used to not allow third party launcher but they changed their mind when Steam started missing some pretty huge releases. I don’t like it as well but I’m not sure if Valve can do anything about it really.

They could change the Deck badge system to limit these games to playable at best maybe. But there’s no way they will stop putting them at queses and front pages or do anything of the sorts I think.

Also, Steam is a launcher as well.

  • OLED. I have Switch OLED and Deck LCD and difference in screen quality is insane. It will make a huge difference in Hades and especially Hollow Knight (didn’t play other listed games).

Plus letterboxing on OLEDs is so good you can basically have native 16:9 display, a lot of indies force this aspect ratio and you end up with black glowing bars o LCD.

I’d say OLED (with 90hz) will make the biggest difference in indie games actually.

And it’s convenient to have a handheld with long battery life, you don’t have to worry about plugging it in often. Even if you play 1 or 2 hours at the time.
