    I run gigabyte B450M with Ryzen 7 5800x3d and i want to upgrade my Ram into DDR5 , can I upgrade into a newer mobo? My cpu is Am4 socket but can i use it on am5 socket or i am fucked and i cannot upgrade into DDR5? PS: My gpu is m RedDevil 6700xt

      DDR5 is AM5 only, so you need to switch to an AM5 processor too. If you already have a 5800X3D, you basically have no need to upgrade for awhile, unless you have shit RAM at like 2666M/T or something

    This seems like a bad idea for AMD unless they are just dumping chips. The 5700X is already as fast as the 5800X when it comes to gaming so I would bet the 57000X3D will be close to the 5800X3D.

      Why is it a bad idea? It’s likely chips that can’t make the 5800x3D specs. So instead of selling them at 5600x3D prices/specs, they can introduce the 5700x3D which has a higher price.

        Again man no one seems to have reading comprehension. I said UNLESS they are trying to dump chips. So they have been sitting on chips that did not meet validation and now want to dump them, okay cool.

        IF they had just thought lets add more chips it would be bad idea.

      If you knew what CPU binning and validation are you’d realize this is actually an awesome idea. If they have CPUs that aren’t able to hit the target frequency and voltage range they’ve set for the 5800X3D, why not validate those chips at a lower frequency and voltage and sell it to people that want a fast, cheap, low power chip for gaming while making a profit instead of throwing it in the bin? Same as the 5700X vs 5800X. Makes perfect sense.

        I understand chip binning and validation, the bad idea comes from the fact of why bother to buy a 5800X3D when you can buy a 5700X3D? As for the validation argue you made my initial point for me. They have a bunch of chips that failed to hit certain requirements, been sitting on them and now need to dump them so here we go. Might want to read my entire post and look at what I am saying before jumping to an assumption.

      If the 5500x3d is just around 5600x in price then it would be good deal. Its not for everyone since its only at 4Ghz top speed which would make the FPS limit around 120 or 144?

        Max frame rate will be game dependent. Plenty of old 2GHz processors can do 144 on old games, and plenty of 4GHz processors can’t do 100 hz in some demanding new games.

    Might be interesting depending on the cost but the 5800X3D is so expensive in Australia that the 7800X3D is going for basically the same price… Might just be better ditching my AM4 or settling for a 5700X instead…

    Damn, amazing that AM4 is still getting new CPUs 6 1/2 years after launch. My B350 board I got on launch day is still going strong with a 5800X for my dad’s Flight Simulator system. Hopefully AM5 has a similar lifespan!

        Hate it when that type of shit happens with mobos. I have an intel board that wont boot in any other configuration but the Ram in the first and second slot -__- Not my main board, but one that I have. it’s a really premium board too so its a shame.

      I suspect we’ll see the same for AM5, AMD is just fudging with the 2025 date in case the engineering doesn’t allow it. It’s pretty profitable for AMD, having a userbase like that.

      X3D has stupid amounts of cache, which is amazing for gaming. Some games can get a 40% boost in average fps, and almost games will get better 1 & 0.1% lows

      Depends on your resolution/refresh rate target. I have 5800x3d and 4090 with LG C2 (4k/120hz), and I am pretty much never CPU bottlenecked.

        Same setup and same result. 5800X3D is a good match for a 4090. And the two are very power efficient per fps. So if you want to keep the heat down at a certain target fps at 4k, then you can’t do much better than this combo assuming you require a 4090s power to begin with.

      Look at some of the recent reviews of the 14th gen Intel. They still include 5800X3D in the charts, and it definitely punches above its weight. No regrets as an owner…
